On Borrowed Time
DEAD
Richard Cooey was executed by lethal injection Tuesday, October 14, 2008. The execution took place in Lucasville, Ohio. Unlike that of his victims, Wendy Offredo and Dawn McCreedy, Cooey’s death was reportedly painless.
His final words demonstrated his lack of remorse for his crimes: “You (expletive) haven’t paid any attention to anything I’ve said in the last 22 years, why would you pay any attention to anything I said now?” Cooey said.
As a bit of shameless self-promotion, I would like to note that the article below was written in 2005 when few of us even knew of Richard Cooey. In 2003 I was part of the team dealing with the last-minute delays that bought Cooey a couple more years of life. I attended his clemency hearing in my professional capacity and still have the State’s Opposition to Clemency Petition which features, among other things, pictures of Dawn and Wendy as beautiful young women and photos of how they appeared at the crime scene.
I kept track of his case over time, but opted to leave this article as originally written with just occasional updates.
On Borrowed Time (original post - 2005)
Richard Wade Cooey sits on death row in Ohio on borrowed time, but he’s got plenty of it.
Two years ago next month, Cooey was 13 hours from a date with the executioner when his attorneys completed the legal equivalent of football’s “hail mary” play and bought the rapist-murderer something he denied his two young victims — more time to live.
Recently, Cooey marked the end of his 19th year on death row. He has spent almost as much time there as his victims, Dawn McCreedy and Wendy Offredo, spent on earth.
In 1986, Cooey was home on leave from the U.S. Army. He spent the day of August 31 drinking with a pair of friends from high school, Clint Dickins and another man who was not charged in relation to the crimes that sent Cooey to death row. Late in the evening on the 31st Cooey and his brain-trust were amusing themselves by throwing pieces of concrete from an overpass at the cars on the highway below.
One of the concrete blocks — about the size of a basketball — struck the windshield of a car driven by college student Wendy Offredo, who along with her friend Dawn McCreedy, had just finished a shift at a local coffee shop, the Brown Derby.
The women were unhurt by the attack, but that was when their luck ran out.
Cooey, Dickins and the other man approached the women, who had pulled the undrivable car over to the side of the highway and offered to take them back to a nearby shopping center to call for assistance. The women accepted the ride.
While Wendy was talking to her mother, Dickens saw money in her purse. He suggested to Cooey and the other man that the three of them rob Wendy and Dawn. Cooey replied, “I’m game if you’re game.” This agreement came after Cooey himself spoke with Mrs. Offredo and promised her that nothing bad would happen to the girls. The group then left the deserted mall.
When they realized Cooey was not returning to the site of the “accident,” the women asked Cooey where he was going. He pulled out a knife and ordered them to “shut up.” He then gave the knife to Dickens, who opened it and held it on the women. Dawn gave up her purse, while she and Wendy asked their assailants not to hurt them. Cooey told one of his friends to tie Dawn’s hands, whereupon the man demanded to be let out of the car, and Cooey let him out. He did not call police to report the abduction, however.
Cooey drove the car to an isolated wooded area and the victims were forced to exit the car. Cooey raped McCreery while Dickens raped Offredo. Then, Cooey raped Offredo while Dickens raped McCreery. During this time, Cooey called out Dicken’s name ( “hey Clint, put on the Bad Company tape,” he said.), which infuriated him. Dickens grabbed a billy club which had been placed on the hood of the car and began hitting a tree.
It was at that point that the men decided the girls had to die.
Cooey grabbed Offredo in a choke hold, strangling her until she was unconscious. Once she was on the ground he tied her feet together with a red bandana. Dickens clubbed McCreery with the billy club when she attempted to escape. She eventually slumped to the ground. Cooey tied a shoestring around Offredo’s neck and Dickens tied another around McCreery’s. During this episode, both victims were beaten in the head with the billy club and McCreery was stabbed in the neck.
A few days following the murders, an informant called Akron detectives telling the police that Cooey was trying to sell jewelry belonging to the victims. The informant named the street Cooey lived on. The police immediately set up surveillance around Cooey’s house while two warrants were being obtained– one to search and one to arrest Cooey. Cooey attempted to leave the house and he was arrested. Items were removed from his person and from his grandmother’s automobile. Thereafter, the house was searched and various items were removed.
Dickens, the juvenile, was tried as an adult. He was found guilty, and sentenced to life imprisonment. Cooey waived his right to a trial by jury and a panel of judges was assigned to try him. Cooey was found guilty of two counts of aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnaping, one count of felonious assault, and four counts of rape by the panel of judges, and sentenced to death.
The dance of the appellate lawyers began in 1987 and the convictions were upheld on direct and post-conviction appeals.
In 2000, a Sixth Circuit panel denied Cooey’s habeas corpus petition. After expressing its tentative conclusion that Cooey had failed to make a substantial showing of the denial of a constitutional right, the judges directed him to show cause why it should not deny his application for permission to appeal that decision. Attached to the show cause order was an appendix summarizing the panel’s tentative findings with respect to each issue raised in the appeal. The appendix also detailed numerous instances of Cooey’s careless (or worse) brief writing. The appellate panel found that “some of Cooey’s claims were irrelevant, his case law inapposite, and his factual assertions erroneous,” a district court judge would write later.
In June 2003 after an execution date was set by the Ohio Supreme Court, the Ohio Parole Board conducted a clemency hearing and recommended Governor Bob Taft deny clemency, which he did.
On June 10, 2003, a little over one month before Cooey’s execution date, the Chief Deputy Clerk of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals mailed letters to the two attorneys who had represented Cooey in his habeas appeal, advising them that the Court of Appeals had removed them as his appellate counsel.
“The court has authorized me to tell you that you will not receive any new appointments on appeal or extensions of appointments under the Criminal Justice Act in capital cases,” the letters read. “This reflects the court’s dissatisfaction with both the quality of the appellate briefs and the oral argument in Cooey v. Coyle and the amount of the attorney ’s fees which were paid to you and [co-counsel] for Mr. Cooey’s representation.”
The Clerk then asked the Ohio Public Defender to find counsel to represent Cooey in the event that he intended to initiate any further federal litigation.
The Public Defender worked diligently to find someone, but reported back to the court on July 12, 2003 — 12 days before Cooey’s scheduled execution — that no one would take the case.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2003, Cooey filed in district court a pro se “Motion to Appoint Counsel in this Death Penalty Case in Which Execution is Set for July 24, 2003.” The federal judge appointed the Ohio Public Defender’s office to represent Cooey.
On July 22, 2003, Cooey filed a Rule 60(b) motion and a motion for stay of execution. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 60(b) provides a party with relief from judgment under certain circumstances: “On motion and upon such terms as are just, the court may relieve a party or a party’s legal representative from a final judgment, order, or proceeding for the following reasons: (1) mistake, inadvertence, surprise, or excusable neglect…or … any other reason justifying relief from the
operation of the judgment.”
On July 23, the families of Wendy Offredo and Dawn McCreery gathered in Lucasville, Ohio, site of the execution chamber where the next day, Richard Cooey would pay the ultimate price for his crimes.
Fate had another cruel twist in store for them.
The Rule 60(b) motion was made to Judge Dan Aaron Polster, who wrote just 13 hours before Cooey was to die, “The underlying premise of the stay of execution is that the Court of Appeals’ letters to Cooey’s prior appellate habeas counsel have cast a cloud over the integrity of the habeas process, and that it would be unseemly for Cooey to be executed while that cloud exists. Rule 60(b) relief is ‘reserved for those cases of injustices which, in certain instances, are deemed sufficiently gross’ and to prevent grave miscarriages of justice. The Court finds that the extraordinary circumstances in this case could warrant Rule 60(b) relief. It is for the Sixth Circuit to make the ultimate determination as to the meaning and import of its June 10, 2003 letters…I have had 48 hours to grapple with this unprecedented situation. Ultimately, I have concluded that the integrity of the federal courts would be impugned if the State of Ohio executes Richard Cooey tomorrow.”
Polster knew the character of the man he was sparing.
“Here, Richard Cooey brutally raped and murdered two women. He and his associates set up this heinous crime by standing on a bridge and dropping a concrete chunk through the windshield of a randomly selected car as it passed underneath,” he wrote. “Cooey and his associates then tortured and murdered the two victims under the guise of offering assistance. A state that elects to establish a system of capital punishment presumably has in mind such defendants.
“Reasoned and thoughtful people may debate the significance of the life of Richard Cooey. The function of federal habeas corpus, however, is to ensure the integrity of a state’s judicial process, particularly when that may culminate in a defendant’s execution. It is our responsibility as federal judges to ensure the integrity of our own process, and that is why I have stayed Cooey’s execution.”
Eventually, the Sixth Circuit ruled that Cooey deserved another chance to demonstrate that his appellate lawyers were ineffective. His second round of post-conviction appeals is working its way through the state system.
Update
Richard Cooey continues to wring every last drop of justice from the system that has long-acknowledged that he is a rapist and murderer. As the United States Supreme Court wrestles with the question of whether the three-drug cocktail used in lethal injections constitutes cruel and unusual punishment in violation of the Eighth Amendment, Cooey has become the lead complainant in a lawsuit currently pending in the Ohio court system that the state’s lethal injection procedure violates the state’s Constitutional ban on cruel punishments.
That’s his right, of course.
However, I think it is in Cooey’s best interests to heed the words of the Roman historian Valerius Maximus: Lento quidem gradu ad vindictam divina procedit ira, sed tarditatem supplicii gravitate compensat.
(The divine wrath is slow indeed in vengeance, but it makes up for its tardiness by the severity of the punishment.)
UPDATE: September 2, 2008: Parole Board Recommends Against Cooey Clemency
The Ohio Parole Board released its clemency report Tuesday on condemned inmate Richard Wade Cooey II, unanimously recommending that Gov. Ted Strickland not grant him clemency. Cooey had sought clemency on the grounds he was ill-served by his lawyers and that Ohio’s lethal injection process is unconstitutional.

Shameless Self-Promotion

In the summer of 1984 in June, Richard Wade Cooey and Clint Dickens shot at me eighteen times trying to kill me while walking into work at the Sears store at Chapel Hill Mall In Akron, Ohio. I was on my way to work one afternoon and had a little run in with them on route 8 south bound. A 1965 Ford Galaxy 4 door cut me off it was brown in color. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting him, the driver had red hair and lots of freckles, I know because he turned around and laughed at me. I tried switching lanes but a 1974 Monte Carlo cut me off again and would not let me pass. The cars came to a complete stop and I found a way around them by switching over two lanes. I got a really good look at the people in the cars, unmistakeably Richard Cooey and Clint Dickens. I parked my car in the lot and started walking in to the building, three steps and I heard 9 popping sounds in a row with glass breaking and the sound of air comming out of a tire. I had no idea what was happening or where the sound was coming from. I stopped, looked around and then began to walk again and then 9 more popping sounds and whizzing sounds going by my head, again I had no idea that anyone would be trying to shoot at me for any reason. A car slammed it’s brakes on traveling down the road and I looked across the street and saw the same three people on the curb across the street pointing at me and when I saw them they pulled bandana’s over their faces. I saw them clearly and was unmistakeably Richard Cooey, Clint Dickens and the third person was bent over picking up things out of the grass. I still had no clue what was happening and started walking again into the building. I heard one more pop and whizz sound by my head and I turned around and saw the blond haired person pointing at me while the others were running to their cars. The last thing that I remember was hearing and seeing the cars doing a quick U turn and making their get away.
Someone reported it to the police department and when they showed up they only asked me one question, “Do you have any enemies?”
I replied “No”.
That was it…the extent of their investigation and when the tow truck arrived to haul away my car, it was disabled, they were on their way.
Two years later when I saw them on t.v. I knew that I had seen them before but it didn’t register right away. It struck me a few days later. You would not believe how all of the pieces of that day fell together and how bad I felt. I couldn’t talk about it to anyone, it hurt too much and my mind put it away in a place that I couldn’t get to. I blamed myself for the two girls dying because I did not remember anything, I could have had them behind bars.
Eighteen years later It came to the surface and I couldn’t deal with it anymore. I finally told my parents and the police department. It became harder and harder to say anything as the years rolled by. I didn’t know how to bring the subject up in conversation and when I tried I would get choked up.
I can still hear the bullets and count them as if it were yesterday. I can’t believe that when I heard them going by my head I thought that I had a bee flying around me and I actually started swatting. This has destroyed my life and the police have essentially brushed it under the rug.
I want him to be put to death, he is scum and has no purpose in this world. 20 years is entirely too long it’s time.
Comment by gotamac — 6/28/2006 @ 11:15 pm
This 1. comment is not true , I don’t doubt you may or may not avoided 18 bullets being shot at you even though you thought they were bee’s ,
Clint Dickens was not a Ohio resident he was from Baltimore Maryland .. the only reason he was in Ohio in 1986, he was visiting his grandmother, he met Richard Cooey only a few short weeks before this terrible event happened..
In June of 1984 Clint Dickens would not of been in Ohio nor would he of been riding around with Richard Cooey.
Don’t blaim yourself for something you could not of prevented. if you was shot at I can assure you it was not by Clint Dickens or Richard Cooey.
Richard Cooey never owned A 1965 Ford Galaxy 4 door. he didnt own a car of his own he drove his grandmother 1984 chevy citation.
I went to high school with Richard Cooey Stow High class of 1985 ,, Rick never drove anything but a motorcycle in the summer and his grandmothers chevy citation.
So your more than likely a story teller or mistaking.

I grew up on the same street as Ms. Offredo. Although barely an
acquaintance, I was deeply affected by this shocking senseless act at the time and have never forgotten it. This guy is a waste of human flesh. My hope is for the families to get a sense of closure, healing and peace if possible. Screw him.
Comment by castleblvd — 5/28/2007 @ 7:46 pm
My husband is Dawn McCreery’s brother and it is truely cruel the way the justice system has
failed to execute this man and bring this family some closure. I was in Lucasville in July
of 2003 and I cannot tell you the anger and raw pain this family experienced when Cooey’s
execution was stayed. It is absolutely indescribable. Cooey has had millions of dollars in
legal representation while Dawn and Wendy were bashed in the head until dead. Anyone who reads this, please please please vote to put politicians into office who support the death penalty. The only people who have received any help are the men who raped, beat, stabbed and tortured these poor women. As it is now, there is not
justice for the people who are murdered and the families they leave behind, only a legal
system who takes our tax dollars to defend them and keep them alive.
Comment by NICOLE MCCREERY — 5/31/2007 @ 9:49 am
The OFFREDO and MCCREERY families deserve closure. Put Richard Cooey to death now! On death row 20+ years is complete bullshit. Enough is enough.

Richard Cooey looks like the Devil himself….only rounder!
Looks like he’s eaten quite well the last 20 or so years.
He needs to be executed, it’s common sense. No evil man should
live longer than two innocent young women. My heart goes out to
their familes for having to see him keep on breathing!
Comment by Pamela Buchtel — 7/12/2007 @ 12:50 pm
As a feminist I am clearly appalled by what Cooey did to Ms. McCreery and Ms. Offredo. I rememeber when this happened and I couldn’t fathom the pain, fear, terror, and agony those young women certainly felt. I knew Richard Cooey. He was a good friend of my step brother’s throughout jr. high and high school. Cooey was a sad case in school. He was chubby, freckle-faced, red-haired, teased in school and beaten at home by his father, how used to punish him by putting his head in the toilet. Of course, there are plenty of people who grow up being abused and don’t rape and murder. However, what is often left out of the story of Cooey is that he was on leave from the military when the murders occurred. As someone who knows him, I believe that he found power and violence while in the military and returned home to the memories and dysfunction of his abusive family and years of pain and violence erupted on to two innocent young women. *In no way* do excuse Cooey’s actions (nor does anyone in my family — Cooey contacted my former stepbrother after he was imprisoned asking him to serve as a character witness, he declined). However, in framing violence simplistically, we as a society don’t learn what causes people to kill and rape. Instead, the state often kills them (or puts them on death row for decades). What message does this send? Killing is wrong, whether it is done by the state or by the individual.

I was attending the University of Akron at the time these murders happened both of these. I had met both of them at a function of their sorority about a week before it happened. I heard today that his execution date has been set again for Oct 14 2008. Should have happened a long time ago. Our justice system gives these dirtbags way to many rights.
Comment by RH — 7/11/2008 @ 11:22 pm
The day has come again. In today’s paper the execution has been rescheduled for October 14, 2008. I am a sorority sister of Dawn and Wendy’s and I made a promise to them I would be there when this monster received his punishment. I was there in 2003 all day and into the evening only to be sent home without the closure. I will be back again on Tuesday October 14, 2008.
Once an ADPi sister, always and ADPi sister.

Richard Cooey deserves to die. He took two young women in the prime of their life. He is claiming the “cocktail” he will receive is cruel and unusual punishment. What about being raped and clubbed to death? My Personal opinion is the cocktail is a kind way to die. Imagine the pain and suffering he put his victims thru. Let the end of his life be even more cruel and painful than theirs was. Give him to Dawn’s and Wendy’s families and let them punish him as they see fit.
Comment by A friend of Wendys from High School — 7/16/2008 @ 3:08 pm
I went to Elementary school with Wendy in the town of Magnolia and have many fond memories of her. When she moved to Canton in middle school we lost touch and went our separate ways. However, I will never forget when my mother informed me of the crime when I was away at college myself. I am still haunted by her and her friend’s vicious, senseless death at the hands of these criminals. I am sorry for the suffering that Cooey apparently endured during childhood, but Wendy and her friend Dawn had nothing to do with that. Normally I am against the death penalty for ethical purposes. To me it is an easy way out and I think a worse fate is rotting in a jail cell for life. However, I have to say, if anyone deserves it, this monster does. And the fact that he’s fighting it, should be a no-brainer for the punishment that fits the crime. He showed Wendy and Dawn no mercy, so why should our court system show him any?
Comment by Shelly Everett — 7/20/2008 @ 6:03 pm
I worked at the Brown Derby with Wendy and Dawn. Had I not left Ohio 2 days prior to return to college at EIU I might have been with them that night. We would have driven my car, which was a beater, and maybe they wouldn’t have wanted to throw a brick on my ugly car. I remember when I got the call at school to tell me this happened. Shock, horror and numbness. I think of them often. I wish Cooey would die the same horrific death that these two beautiful girls died. The way he grew up is no excuse for what he did. He deserves to die.
Comment by Gail — 7/21/2008 @ 1:49 am
I don’t know whether death is the ultimate punishment for this individual. I keep thinking what I would do in such event..what punishment would I want to him to receive? This is difficult for me to decide, because anger and retribution would be the only things in my heart. There is a sense of satisfaction in seeing bad people served a piece of their own terror, but I don’t think people are inherently bad, I think that there is something deeper than all this, and although I don’t have all the answers, I repeat the questions in my head…Would i be happy knowing that such sadistic individual would be put to death? I simply stumbled upon this website as I was doing research for a death penalty thesis..and what I have found are tears, and mixed emotions on the subject. All I wish for is peace and forgiveness….may God be with all of you….

Richard Cooey is a dreg of society, worthless, and unrepentent for his acts. His actions ended the lives of two wonderful young women. Now, he is scared and trying to save his butt from the executioner. His time will soon run out and he will be put to death. This is what he deserves.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims. May God help them find peace and solice

I grew up with Cooey and I knew Dickens. I went to high school with Dickens brother. Dickens was a resident of Ohio. He was a quiet, good looking kid I remember until he met Cooey. When this happened it hit VERY close to home for me and my family. I waited for Cooey’s execution the first time and I would’ve given him the cocktail myself. He is and always has been a bully. My father grew up with his father and said he was the same way. I’m counting the days until Oct. 14, 2008. I I think they should televise it. The other person that helped throw the block over the bridge I know very well and cannot understand why he didn’t tell someone what he thought was going to happen. The two beautiful girls may still be here. I think they should take people like Cooey and hang them in the middle of town for all to see like they did hundreds of years ago. He’s been on death row for 21 years and we’ve been supporting him. We can’t barely make ends meet for our own families today but we can afford to feed him and educate him. Prison is no sentence or punishment if prisoners are allowed to have cable, education, recreation. What punishment has he received? NONE! It’s time for closure NOW!!! It’s time for politicians in Ohio and all states to clear out death row and do what they have been sentenced. One appeal after sentencing is one thing but after that carry out the sentence that was imposed but the judge and jury. Loopholes - that’s all the law is. I feel for the two girls families and I hope with Cooey’s execution that they may be able to find closure and the girls can finally rest in peace. I hope the devil enjoys the competition he’s going to get when he meets Cooey face to face.

I read recently that Cooey’s appointed attorney (and Cooey himself) claim that lethal injection would be cruel and unusual punishment because they would have trouble finding a suitable vein due to his weight, and that life in prison should be warranted. If this is the case, just shoot the SOB.

I met Dawn McCreery years ago when I lived in Ohio with my elderly grandmother. My grandmother’s dog had run away and I had put up posters offering a reward for his return. Dawn, who must have been about 10 at the time, found the dog and brought it to our home. I will never forget the look on my grandmother’s face when she got her dog back. I will also never forget that when we offered the reward money to Dawn that she said “no thank you”. I don’t think I ever met a young person with so much poise and good manners. To think that her last hours alive were spent in such pain, horror and degradation is almost too much to bear. Richard Cooey is a remorseless keller and rapist. It is time he is put to sleep. It is time to give the families of these two precious victims some type of closure.

This man is now stating that he is too fat to execute and it was on AOL tonight. I am truly disgusted as a member of the legal system how some lawyers will stretch the truth misrepresent and all the while, the victims families have to take it. Rest assured that people out there sympathize and feel your pain. I directed the AOl folks to this website. There are many people who feel this guy should be put to death.

Rebuttal to Comment 7. Trying to say Cooey ‘found violence’ in the military is patently idiotic. The slug is a psychopath, immune to compassion and bereft of dignity or honor. In my 25 years in the Navy I was never taught a skill involving dropping concrete blocks off of overpasses or rape and murder, so sorry. It is people like you who, with the bleeding heart so open for the perpetrator, have denied the VICTIMS in this case justice. Cooey should die, and it should have happened years ago. Civilization will NEVER know what drives animals like Cooey, because we are not capable of lowering ourselves to his sub-human level. Time to weed out the gene pool before some adoring sister weds this beast and manages to breed. Good riddance, and I hope he lives for eternity with Lucifer taking hot dumps in his throat. If his state can’t get it done, send him to Texas…we have an express lane for filth such as this.

I saw this Cooey character in the head lines. I was amazed that his attorney could even appeal his death penalty due to his weight. WHO CARES? (It shows he has been eating too good the last years in prison) His victims did not get medication to ease the pain while he killed them. I say the more he feels the better! I doubt he has any sorrow for what he did. I am not sure people should be allowed to be on death row for years & years. We, the people, are keeping these people up in prison. I say get rid of them QUICK.

If he doesn’t want lethal injection maybe they could hang him.

Too Fat to be put to death? Afraid it will be excruciating? Awww Poor Baby! Did you worry the girls you murdered were in comfort? NO, therefor you outlived your welcome in society, and should be put down, in the most excruciating way. It does suck when your fat, but who cares about you? Your lucky you lived this long! Don’t try to prolong your life living, you need to go! You’ve wasted too many peoples tax dollars and no one cares if you die painfully! You claimed the lives of two innocent girls and never once thought about how they felt. So, your a fat ass now? AWwwwwwwwww, get over yourself, again, you lived longer then you should have. Your gonna rott in hell, and no one cares your fat, you belong in hell, and i hope your death is excruciating!

I think we should let family members of the victims handle the execution with axes or something as refined. All jokes aside, I’m quite tired of hearing about the possibility of pain being felt by those due to be put to death. I don’t care if they feel any pain; if I had my way, they would experience a great deal of pain on their way out. I mean, it’s only fair. Can you believe these tough killers actually become like cry-babies when it comes to their own demise. It’s almost unbelievable.

I don’t put up with that shit! nor do I put up with lawyer pigs!
give him hell needle. I hope it hurts him atleast half as bad as the pain he inflicted on two beautiful young girls.

Cooey now claims that he is to obese to execute. He claims either the medical people will not be able to properly insert the needle or that his obesity will not allow the sedatives to properly render him unconscious. It never ceases to amaze me how these guys who so lightly take lives seem so unwilling to give up their sorry excrement filled existences. Trash such as Cooey do not belong in our society and never will. When will the people of this country come to their senses and see that “an eye for an eye” though not pretty is the only way to treat scum such as Cooey. By the by I suggest that since Mr. Cooey can’t be executed in a “standard” way I will gladly execute him in the Russian manner: small caliber bullet to the back of the head; painless, quick, clean, and fat tolerant.

Its just so sad to see the justice system being manipulated by these modern day monsters. I think we all understand that all efforts must be made to be sure that no injustice is done to someone who is possibly innocent, but when the evidence of guilt is basically 100% straightforward, then delays in carrying out the sentence should not be allowed. We have appointed judges to evaluate these things and if there are questions, then they should allow such things…… but to say “hey Im too fat to pay for what Ive done”…… I say “Ok, fine….. your now on a very limited diet and you certainly wont be fat when your date comes”. I really believe we have gone too far, trying to do the right thing every time….. and many times lawyers are to blame. Yes, they are required to do everything they can for their “client”, but there should be a much stronger opposition that prevents the abuses to the system we now see regularly. It is just so sad that convicted criminals can get a better education than I can afford for myself and my children….. and I help pay for it with my taxes. This would not happen in other countries. Yes, we are a better society that holds itself to a higher standard……. but we also allow it to be used against us. There is no easy solution, but people like this should really be in the express lane to “old sparky”…… so sorry if its painful, but you should have thought about that before doing the terrible things you did.

Richard Cooey is but one of a long list of persons who are far to willing to take away the lives of others but become sniveling little babies when confronted with the fact that they might actually have to pay with their own life. If Richard Cooey experiences pain and sufferring at the time of his execution, then it is but a small debt repaid for what he put his two victims through. I for one am tired of the spineless individuals who shy away from the duty we have to deal unmercifully with scum such as he. I say smear him with honey cut his achilles tendons and leave him for the bears to find in some remote corner of a bruin infested forest.

I am for the death penalty for anyone who takes a life from an innocent person on purpose. I believe that if you can take a life of an innocent person who is not harming you or anyone else you are giving up your own life. With that said I read all these people say that they usually aren’t for the death penalty but not in this case. It mostly comes from people who are connected to the victims who my hearts go out to. But why in this case do these people feel that the death penalty is right? What makes this one so different? I am sure the family and friends of the victims of other crimes felt this exact way about the dirt bags that killed their family member. And in those cases the death penalty isn’t right? I not sitting here saying that every case should get the death penalty. In every clear case with no question of who did it the death penalty should be applied. If there is any possibility that the defendant didnt do it then you can consider life in prison. I read about dirt bags killing people and from what I gather here those people shouldn’t be put to death? Again, I say you hang this fat piece of crap and let him suffer. But for all of you to sit here and say you aren’t for the death penalty but in this case you are then you should read the news more often. These dirt bags are everywhere and they deserve it too! I am sorry for the lose and pain that this dirt bag has caused all of you. If I offended anyone with this post I am sorry as this is not my intent. I am just trying to understand the thinking here. I am not saying I am right, this is just my take on the matter.

Too bad he’s fat, too bad he’s big. Wahwhahah WAH!!!! Cry, sniffle, and beg your whole way to the INJECTION table. Those poor girls probably begged for their lives too, and most likely suffered more than he will. If he suffers half as much, it won’t be enough. Kill the fatty and let him know how it feels. I have always been FOR the death penalty, and this garbage is why. How dare he try to make excuses and cower from his punishment. He gave those girls no excuse or chances. He deserves none himself. I find it ridiculous he is even given the right to try. He has given nothing to society and deserves nothing in return. Kill him, and feel as sorry about it as he did when he killed.

Sometimes punishment should fit the crime. There are times when the death penalty is appropriate.
Comment by mtemple@foray.com — 8/5/2008 @ 3:09 am
It’s amazing what pops up on MSN.co.uk! I just saw that this guy wants his execution cancelled because he is obese and the needles may not reach his veins properly? And because he thinks the lethal injection is not right?
I have a simple solution, throw him in a cell and give him just water for 6 months. He has enough body fat to keep him alive for a long time. Sadly it will be painful as his organs take turn in slowly failing and his girth narrows. In the end he should suffer to the point where he is begging for the executioners needle.
Can’t you Americans simply deep fry the fat Bas***d with an electric chair? That will cure his obesity and give the poor family of these young girls some justice and closure. They have suffered enough pain for his vile acts and deserve to be able to sleep in peace.
In fact book me a plane ticket and I will gladly come over and throw the switch……………….

This story has also reached The Netherlands, Europe. It’s horrible to read what he did and I wish all the best to the family of the victims. Apparently Cooey is trying to stop his execution by claiming he is too fat. I am against the death penalty, in every case. However, I do understand the people that knew the victims. I just really think this man should be put away for life and I wish they just gave him water and dry bread to survive. That would be the best punishment.

I can hardly believe that this guy is trying to avoid the death penalty because he is overweight??? Why doesn’t “the system” put him on a diet? Rather than 3 square meals a day … perhaps some carrot sticks and celery?
This man is guilty torturing and killing not only those two girls, he is now vicitmizing their entire families and friends for the last two decades and “the system” is enabling that. Very wrong.

I flip flop on the death penalty. I know I should pick a side but when I read about innocent people that were on death row it pains me. However, when the crime is 100% proven then I say we need to execute certain offenders. I lived in Ohio when this happened. I remember waiting on the funeral prosesion of cars in west Akron while late for an appointment. This guy fits my description of kill him now. He was cocky and thought nothing of the lives he destroyed. They should never let out the other 17 year old either. He was just as arrogant as Cooey. May God have mercy on his soul but this dude is headed straight to hell and he will be joined there by his idiot friend. The coment on him getting beat by his dad and blaiming the military is beyond stupid. I am an honorably discharged US Marine. My father was a raging alcholic who beat my mother almost to death and hit me almost weekly. People that blame others for their acts are what makes our society clueless. I understand and have sympothy for victims of faimly abuse. But we all have free will and everyone determines their own path.

hi everyone..dawn was my sister!first i want to say thank you to all of you for your support and wishes for my family! it isn’t wasted. we do notice.
to the person that asked about the difference in who does and does not deserve the death penalty. i agree…cooey doesn’t deserve it any more or less than any other murderer. i think what the difference is is that he has admited guilt and lasted sooo long now by manipulating the system. and that he has not yet,as of now, expressed any remorse what so ever. not once has he ever said he was sorry. in my mind that makes him even more of a monster. just my 2 cents i guess.
wow..this story has gone worldwide. i guess that surprises me a bit. what we need at this point is support. we need everyone to let everyone they know about this thing. my hope is that we can put so much pressure on the judicial system at this point that they have no choice but to change their policies on this sort of manipulation by our death row inmates. any ideas?
let me also say that i believe in the apeal process. to a limit. we have been told about 10 times that cooey has exausted all options for apeal only to have something like this come up again. i know that sometimes inocent people are sent to death row..it happens. if not for apeals these people would be put to death wrongly. i know that. but this guy openly BRAGGED about killing my sister. he should not have had more that one apeal. period..let alone almost a quarter of a century worth.
anyway…i have to go..i will be back on here tomorrow night to check back in. thanks again for your support!

Dawn’s brother is my husband and I can tell you that this whole process has been excrutiating for him and his family. It is absolutely criminal how our legal system has tended to every concern of this pig and has completely disregarded the families of these two young women. Cooey has been on death row for more years that Dawn and Wendy were alive. He has received millions of dollars of legal representation and the families were given $500 from a victim’s fund to split between the two families.
I just want to tell all of you how grateful we are for all of your comments. It is our hope that the courts will realize that the majority of the country WANTS the death penalty. Hopefully, they will not see fit to even entertain this bogus lawsuit. Unfortunately, we don’t hold much faith in this. Rob and I have talked today about going to every available newschannel and paper in the country. I am prepared to support my husband 100% in this venture. The only support that this family has received is from friends and people like you who have taken the time to post your comments. So, once again, thank you. I think i can speak for both Rob and I when I say that these sites give us strength on hope on this impossible journey.

I simply can’t get my head around the mind set that says ” lock um up for life ” when you’re dealing with horrible acts such as this man has perpetrated. People who want no capital crimes on the books and want ” life ” to be the ultimate penalty apparently haven’t noticed the state of prisons in this country. If they were to look closely or hell visit a lovely home away from home like Folsom, Pelican Island, Leavenworth or Attica (and I,m sure Ohio has equally wonderful facilities) they may come to the conclusion that the death penalty is a mercy. That said:I don’t want to see any innocent person in prison but animals like Cooey, multiple rapists, child molesters, elected officials who take kickbacks and bribes ( see China ), and maybe some of these white collar thieves should pay the ultimate price. “They” say the death penalty is no deterrent to capital crime; I submit that failing to carry out the death penalty in a timely manner is the reason for that If a scum bag knows when he pulls the trigger he will be dead in a very short time he may think twice.
Comment by concerned citizen — 8/9/2008 @ 12:20 am
By the way I didn’t mean to equate the evil of Cooey with corrupt officials and white collar criminals, his crimes are far the worse. I meant to put forth that there should be far more accountability for crimes that harm us as moral citizens; whatever the severity.

I remember when this horrible crime occurred-over Labor Day weekend of 1986. It is astonishing and astounding that the perpetrator in this matter, Cooey has not been executed after 22 years. The death penalty in Ohio, unfortunately, has become a political football. Ohio and many other states which have the death penalty on its books, seem very ambivalent to actually carrying it out. Instead, certain groups make martyrs and heroes out of the likes of Cooey and his associates, to portray them as the victims! In other societies, justice would have been served long ago. For example, in Saudi Arabi, Cooey would have been beheaded in public by sword, within a short time after conviction. There, there are no endless frivolous appeals. Also, in Iran, he would been hanged, by being hoisted up by his neck with a crane. In those countries, the punishment fits the crime. It should also be noted that recently, in Texas, a similar murderer-torturer-rapist was recently executed. His crime was virtually identical to Cooey’s. His execution took place 15 years after the crime, and his associate’s took place 13 years later. Several other associates who were involved in the crime were also sentenced to life, because of their ages. Another one is also facing execution. In Texas, unlike Ohio, they carry out the law as it is written on the books! Enough endless and frivolous lawsuits, including the bogus one which Cooey filed, that he is too heavy to be executed!!

My sister was murdered back in 1986, she was 20 yrs old. Luckily, for my family, the murdering coward took his own life the following day, too scared to face my family in court (knowing it was a matter of time before he was caught, he killed her in front of people in broad daylight). She was my only sibling. She was my best friend.
As a result of experiencing this devastating loss at 16yrs old, I still struggle with violent nightmares on a weekly basis. It never goes away. No amount of therapy, counseling, group therapy, nothing erases what happened. The only good thing that came out of this was that the murderer (my sister’s stalker, actually, since he was “in love” with her, whatever) killed himself the next day.
I used to attend monthly meetings of POMC (Parents of Murdered Children) and have heard it all. I did this because being in the company of other people who’ve lost someone in this way made me feel like less of a freak. Being from Minneapolis, MN, where the death penalty isn’t legal it’s safe to say that had this murdering bastard (his name was Jim Pribble, should you be interested) would probably be out by now, while my lovely sister (Michelle Becker) will always be dead and the effects of that loss will be felt by my family and anyone whose life she touched, will be felt until we are gone.
In honor and respect of all the victims of violent crimes and their families, the murdering animals who took the lives of these two innoncent women rightfully deserve to either be put to death (choice #1) but if the state doesn’t allow it, then keep them in prison for life. No chance of parol.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these two innocent women. I just hope that you can get the closure you deserve, after all this time.
~Danielle Becker
(PS. I feel strongly that just because these animals may have experience abuse when they were young, should have NO bearing on what they did. None. Shouldn’t even be brought-up. It disgusts me.)

To Rob McCreery: To begin; I am sorry you have to go thru this on top of the pain you have for the loss of your beloved sister. I lost my brother in 1990, he was 27, and the loss is never far from my heart, I love and miss him everyday.
There are many people that have the same comments as I so I will not duplicate the hate and anger even though I very much feel the same way.
My main point is… If you have e-mail addresses and/or phone #’s for the politician’s, congressmen, senators, any elected officials we can bombard with email/comments, please post this information. There are so many people outraged and this has made it’s way out into main stream society, we can make a difference, they can hide their mistakes and diddle around and keep quite for only so long. There is noway this piece of crap will walk away from this execution, it’s his, he owns it, let’s do it.
Blessings for the family’s that have to live with the aftermath & pain of such horrible creatures that walk this earth.

Cooey lived across the street from me as a boy…at least age 12 or younger. This was a very good & decent neighborhood in Munroe Falls, Ohio..suburb of Akron. Believe it or not, Cooey was in the Boy Scouts with my younger brother. Clearly his family was dysfuntional. His Dad was always yelling at “Richard.” I never say his Dad hit Richard although that is possible. When he lived across the street, both parents were there and he had several brothers & sisters living there too. His Dad, who may have been a deadbeat, was either trying to qualify for disability or he had already qualified for disability. His dad even came to Boy Scout camp one year and stayed overnight. We did not fear for our lives. I remember Cooey’s mom taking the entire family and walking down the street (leaving Richard Cooey’s dad..I assume for some kind of family physical or mental abuse.) Then later they moved away from our neighborhood. I have no sympathy for Cooey. Maybe he had an abusive childhood or maybe he is making it sound worse than it was. I do not know. Cooey has been in prison longer than his victims were alive on this earth. Being too fat is a ridiculous excuse for not being executes. Let Cooey pay his dues and be executed & give closure to the victims’ families.

I remember this story well. I was driving home with a friend that night on the same route and went under that same bridge hours earlier. My friend and I could not believe the news about what happened to those girls and were deeply saddened. I understand everyone’s frustration with our legal system. For me, I seek peace in believing that justice will eventually be served, but it will only be the beginning after the state finally injects him. Cooey is exhausting every legal attempt to avoid the inevitable because he is afraid of what is waiting for him on the other side. I am not trying to be judgmental, but I can feel it in my heart that he will suffer unthinkable horror for the pain he caused. While the girls have no doubt long been living in paradise, their families and friends have been left to suffer through the torment caused by Cooey’s heinous crimes. No matter what Cooey suffered as a child, he knew he had choices in terms of dealing with his anger and abuse issues. Instead, he made a conscious decision to victimize innocent people. On the day of his execution, let us celebrate the first day of the rest of his after-life… in hell!!

I entered this yesterday and somehow it was deleted so I will try again. I remember this crime because I was driving home on the same route and passed under the same bridge probably about an hour before it happened. I was 20 y/o and with my 21 y/o friend. We were shocked and saddened when we heard what happened to the girls. Their photos are burned into my memory. I am also beyond anger that Cooey is still alive. For me, I can be at peace with the situation just knowing what is waiting for him on the other side. I believe after he is finally gone, he will endure unthinkable horror. Although the girls have long since been living in paradise, their families have been left behind to endure the pain of what this animal has caused. On the day he is finally gone, let’s all celebrate the beginning of the rest of his after-life in HELL!!!!

Give him to the families of the victims and let THEM do whatever they want to with him. ANYTHING THEY want to do. Torture him, kill him, even let him go if that’s what THEY want to do. The “state” should have NOTHING to do with it. He didn’t wrong the “state”. He didn’t wrong anybody else. He wronged the victims and their families and those FAMILIES should take care of it. Piss on the “state”, lawyers, judges and the like. They are ALL liars, thieves, and crooks.
Comment by Percy Kution — 9/2/2008 @ 8:21 pm
In lieu of the fact that on Sept. 2, 2008, the Ohio Parole Board unanimously agreed that Cooey should be executed on Oct. 14, 2008, it is extremely important for everyone to bombard the office of Governor Strickland with letters, faxes, e-mails,to ensure that the Governor uphold the recommendation of the Parole Board. If there are any Letters to the Editor in any Ohio newspapers disagreeing with this decision, those letters should be promptly refuted. The same holds true if any foreign governments or other entities try to interfere in this matter, as they have done in other capital cases. This time, justice, although long delayed, served.
Comment by A Concerned Citizen — 9/3/2008 @ 5:37 pm
What do any of you have to say about the disconnect between the two punishments. Cooey’s accomplice is serving life in prison without the chance of parole because he was at the time less that two years younger than Cooey, and therefore not yet the age of majority.
Societies will be judged by how they treat the worst amongst them. He is still a human. It is utterly incredible that people say he doesn’t deserve mercy because he did not give mercy to his victims — this means that you are willing to give mercy only to those who show mercy. In other words, this would reserve mercy only for those who do not need it.
We don’t really know what happened that night. Cooey has always denied the actual murder. There is no way to know for sure which boy caused the death of either girl.
So let me get this straight:
We are going to kill people
Who kill people
To show that killing people
Is wrong.

Dawn and Bobby grew up in our neighborhood. My son and Bobby were friends and my son in law knew Dawn quite well. I’ll never forget that Labor Day weekend. My first thoughts went to Bobby and his parents. I couldn’t even phantom the pain these people were feeling. I will never forget the dazed and confused look on their faces at Dawn’s funeral. The first feelings were shock and sadness. Then the anger set in. The anger has been there now for 22 years, while this piece of crap lives on. The McCreery family has had to endure this for way to long. Dawn deserves justice and the family deserves closure. Cooey needs to pay the price for what he did. I don’t give a hoot in hell about how he was treated as a child. A lot of people are abused, that doesn’t give them a license to go kill 2 innocent girls they didn’t even know. Making excuses for the freak doesn’t take away the hurt and hell he’s put these families through. This needs to end. 22 years is a long time to wait for justice and justice is well deserved in this case.
Bobby we saw you on TV a couple of weeks ago, my son said he would love to see you again to catch up. I think you know who I am. My son has the same name as yours and we live in Pheasant Run in the back. Rob would love to see you.
Comment by Chris H. — 9/8/2008 @ 1:59 am
We are going to kill people
Who kill people
To show that killing people
Is wrong.
OK; A Law Student: lets take this point by point:
The disconnect is that the legal system is flawed: they should all be executed regardless of age
Who is the judge exactly: I think it should be the citizens ( since we answer to no other ) of this country ( apparently 12 good and true thought he should DIE )
Human is a biological definition on the order of; say, pond scum, virus, and bacterium: In his case it does not denote any compassion, love,or “human mercy”
Exactly: mercy is not needed for people that show mercy: he didn’t: had he, two innocents would not be dead
You will probably never get it straight
As for the rest; have you looked at the world today?
What we are doing IS NOT working
Grow up A Law Student, on the streets of America, the death penalty is being carried out every day by people who just want your shoes or maybe are having a bad day or need a couple of bucks for….
Comment by concerned citizen — 9/9/2008 @ 8:19 pm
To Concerned Citizen,
I am sorry that you have to be so rude to a perfect stranger.
I don’t know who the judge is, but I hope there is someone or some people out there with more open mindedness than you.
As for mercy — your definition of it renders the term and it’s practice utterly useless.
I know what “the streets” of America are like. But, maybe instead of killing people because they committed wrongs, we should spend at least half that amount of time and energy trying to solve some real problems — like figuring out what drives people to kill in the first place.
If you think you could kill someone, then I urge you to show up and offer to do the IV. It makes you no better than any other killer. If you think you have the right to end a life, you are just too arrogant.
But I will add the caveat that I am a pacifist.
Comment by A Law Student — 9/10/2008 @ 9:42 pm
A Law Student:
I wish I could somehow accelerate your “real world” education and grant you now the epiphany you so clearly will have somewhere down the road. Yes, the death penalty is an extremely poor deterrent of violent crime in a macro sense of the word – meaning it would impact criminals contemplating future crimes. I believe very few (if any) murderers pause to consider the risk of receiving capital punishment while committing their crimes.
Capital punishment, however, is a highly effective micro deterrent of ALL CRIME that could ever again be committed by the few specific criminals who have demonstrated they are deserving of it and unable to live among us as anything but predators requiring societies most severe, final and irrevocable punishment. Yes it is punishment, meant not to educate or reform the criminal nor his cohort (such people are outside the social contract having embarked on a life of satisfying themselves at the expense and to the harm of others), but rather the true purpose of this punishment is to demonstrate to those victimized directly by his acts and the rest of society indirectly victimized by the fear and mayhem his acts caused that we are protected. The criminal has been eternally done away with and society/government has “smote” them as severely as it can. Granted, the execution of a person such as Cooey is small comfort, little more than a band-aid on the horrific, gaping and lifelong wounds he caused the family members of his victims or even in comparison to the troubled memories of those who remember his crimes and the fear/anger he caused us all knowing there was one among us capable of such barbarity. It is however SOME comfort in the face of the evil man is capable of committing. It allows us to go forward and know with complete certainty that this animal will never harm another one of us.
It’s fitting that the only good left to come from Mr. Cooey’s wasted life will flow from its hasty end.
I’m sure you’ve covered time, place and manner restrictions on speech in school by now and while there is certainly no “law” regarding it, your choice of this forum (where ACTUAL FAMILY MEMBERS of Mr. Cooey’s victims receive support and eagerly await the small measure of comfort his execution will bring) as a place to tilt ideologic windmills calling for an end to capital punishment because of its inconsistent application to Cooey’s co-defendant who “only” got life without parole makes you seem …well….…inconsiderate and childish.
Amnesty International’s site would be a much more fitting place for your comments (assuming of course, that my dazzling reason supra has not resulted in the aforementioned “epiphany” – if so, welcome to reality, you’ll find it takes a lot less self deception than your previous mindset.

I personally feel the family and friends of those two ladies should be allowed to force feed his fat@ss and d!ckhead Dickens until they beg for mercy. Then put those two pukes in a locked area and allow the family and friends of those two ladies to throw big chunks of rocks at them for hours, then force feed them some more until they choke to death! It’s b@stards like him and d!ckhead Dickens why the rest of us have to carry guns, tasers, pepper spray, bricks in our purse,cellphones…..whatever we can to protect ourselves.
Comment by Lissa — 10/9/2008 @ 4:08 pm
As for the third guy he’s NO better. He didn’t want any part of it because he knew it was wrong but did he help the ladies? NOPE! He ran like a punk! Force feed him too and throw rocks at him!
Comment by Lissa — 10/9/2008 @ 4:13 pm
Yawn! “A Law Student’s” comments just about put me to sleep. Here’s the deal, irregardless of how one feels about capital punishment—what is the point of keeping someone like Cooey alive? Do we truly think he is salvageable or capable of reform? And even more amusing– would he ever seriously be a person that could “contribute” to society?? Hardly–let the SOB die, he is callous and closer to a wild animal than any human. God bless his poor victims and may we all sleep a little better when he gets what he deserves (hmmm, actually he deserves worse…)
Comment by Sarah — 10/9/2008 @ 11:08 pm
And to those who talk about “mercy” and how we shouldn’t treat a coward like Cooey the way he ought to be treated.. Let me ask you one thing–WHAT if that was your mother, sister or daughter who was tricked, raped and mutilated?? You think you would really still hang on to your ridiculous pacifist beliefs?? BS. I have a 3 yr old, and let me tell you, if anyone touched her, it wouldn’t even come down to a trial. I would serve my own punishment and ten-fold at that. Pacifism?? I get rid of scum in my shower daily, why would I help to preserve human scum?
Comment by Sarah — 10/9/2008 @ 11:18 pm
Well I have seen several postings that say why not hang him. Is there a roe that would hold his fat a**? I say put him on the “rack” or maybe bring back the stockade. I don’t give a rats a** if he isn’t “comfortable” during his execution. In fact I think he should suffer. these scumbags still have a voice even behind bars on death row. The real people suffering are the family members of the victims that have to listen to this fat swine whine. Come on people lets take out the garbage, it will save the state countless dollars. Migrane medication??? Maybe we should leave him in a dark cold cave without his migrane medication and let him live off his own blubber. Die Cooey your a waste of air, money and alot of space.

I knew Dawn and Wendy for two years at The U of Akron. I was in Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and went to a hayride with Dawn. It was an Alpha Delta Pi function. Dawn had to ask a sorority sister of hers, Wendy’s other good friend, if she could invite me along. I had dated that other sorority sister and Dawn felt she should respect that. Wendy could compete with her in the respect aspect. Both gave and deserved respect. Dawn and I had a good time beating the crap out of people, and each other, with hay and that was the only time we ever went out. A bunch of us Lambda Chi’s and ADPi’s went out afterwards and that was our evening. I’m glad I saw the article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer yesterday about Richard Cooey’s execution set for today. I hope they fry the F@#$%& this time. He has no respect for life and I have no respect for his life. At the time, I couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to kill two young ladies who had no ill will towards others. I’ve always wanted him dead. I’ll be looking tomorrow to see if it happened. Then, I’ll feel some justice has been done. I just wish Clint could have the same fate. I can only hope he is getting gang raped every day in prison.
To the Mccreery’s and Offredo’s, I just want to say that your daughters really were two of the nicest people I met in college. I don’t understand why two like that die and two others totally opposite are alive today.
Comment by John B — 10/13/2008 @ 12:00 pm
Will somebody finally flush this piece of sh1t? We have now sheltered, overfed, clothed and protected this waste of oxygen for several years longer than those girls existed on this earth. He and his bottom-feeding lawyers have played the system like a Stradivarius, and I’m sure they’ve had many laughs over it. The hospitals are full of overweight people who have IVs, transfusions, and are donating blood. Wow Cooey, that was pretty funny how you played the system, and apparently ate a lot better than most of us while you did it.
I wish I could be there to see you wet your pants when you loose consciousness. Whenever I hear fat dripping on the grill, I’ll think of you in your pit in hell.

This is a no win situation. Two young girls died needlessly and in one of the most cruelest ways possible. Their families will never get back what they lost that day. Their hearts will never heal no matter what they do to Cooey. But somewhere out there is another set of parents and another family about to endure the same heartache. Cooey can only die once, it’s his family that will suffer for his crime. And as the BIBLE says ” HE WHO IS HERE WITHOUT SIN, CAST THE FIRST STONE.”

sherri, With all due respect, save the tears for someone that deserves them. Coward Cooey has been breathing and apparently overeating for more time SINCE THE MURDERS than the Mccreerys and Offredos had with their daughters IN THEIR ENTIRE EXISTENCE ON EARTH. And, as you surely know, he has never expressed remorse for raping, torturing, beating, strangling and knifing to death these two frightened teens. Yeah, his family must be so proud of him. Bet they’re going to miss his smiling little face. Too bad so sad. You would think they would have come to terms with all of this by now…you know - what happens when someone murders in cold blood.
Comment by DJonesy — 10/13/2008 @ 9:55 pm
sherri, And doesn’t the Bible have something to say about killing, like, Thou shalt not? And what about that whole eye/tooth thing? Don’t pick out one verse to prove a point…that’s a game that we could play all night. Stand back…look at the big picture…
Comment by DJonesy — 10/13/2008 @ 9:59 pm
I was going through rush at Akron U when this happened, I pledged ADPi right after this horrible murder happened. I remember see the girls that knew Dawn and Wendy grieve through this time in their young lives trying to make sense of all of this. I have followed this whenever something would come on the news and I can’t wait until tomorrow when I get to hear the words that Cooey is DEAD!!!
Comment by ML — 10/13/2008 @ 10:50 pm
My sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
I am in no way a supporter of any State arbitrarily taking life. But somehow, Richard Cooey must pay for his criminal act that snuffed out two young lives.
22 years to wait for justice is not really justice. I don’t know Cooey but I will get 12 hours sleep tomorrow night knowing he has finally received the sentence a jury has decided he should pay.
I will allow the Creator to have the final word - Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. Perhaps He will allow the families to finally have closure and we will be rid of the monster who caused all this grief.
Comment by Dennis — 10/14/2008 @ 1:11 am
You people that want Richard Cooey dead make me sick. You call yourselves Christians and say you live by laws which include “Thou Shalt NOT KILL”. IF he did kill the two people (I cannot be sure as your judicial system in America is crap) should we sink to his level and kill him as well? NO! And you say human life is precious, so euthanasia and abortion is out of the question, you hypocritical fuckers.
You dare think that you are superior because you are American and your Christian. Well let me tell you, you are a bunch of brainless wankers. God help anyone that comes up against the American Judicial system, they would be completely stuffed. Sent off to be executed.
You have been asking in your comments “What would you do/say if it was your child killed?” well what if, “What would you say/do if it was your child that committed the murder?” would you send them off to execution. If any of you said, “Yes, I would!” You are either going to be a hopless parent or you already are.
If Richard Cooey has been convicted wrongly I hope one day he will have proper justice, not the shite American version. One last thing stop insulting him you fuckers. If he is guilty you’ve got what you wanted.
So to all the people that want Richard Cooey dead, FUCK OFF!
DEATH TO THE DEATH PENALTY
Comment by MC — 10/14/2008 @ 5:11 am
I am fully against taxpayer money being used to give the condemned a last meal. The last meal is no longer necessary, it is an antiquated custom that has outlived its usefullness. Let me elaborate: when electrocution was in vogue, the condemned often did not eat or drink; consequently their bodies retained a high degree of resistance. When the final current was applied, it was insufficient to stop the heart. After consulting with pathologists, wardens began offering sumptuous last meals laced with enough sugar and salt that the condemend would also drink plenty of the soft drinks which were also provided. Thus properly hydrated, the final current had sufficient amperage. Hydration is not necessary for lethal injection. If a vein is hard to find, the executioner performs a cut-down procedure to find one, with a scalpal and a few surgical retractors. Barbaric? Sure, but not as barbaric as dropping concrete onto someone’s car as a prelude to rape and murder. So don’t waste taxpayer dollars on elaborate last meals, if you are THAT worried that the condemned face his destiny with hunger pangs, give him a double or even triple prison ration as his last meal. Given his defense, he certainly has no problems feeding his face that he needs to be tempted with something other than prison fare.

I knew Wendy at Firestone H.S. She was my science partner and although I only knew her in class and in school, I knew she was a sweet, nice person. I happened to see her the night before her death at Splash and we talked. When I heard the following days later that she was murdered I was just devasted. I had talked to her only a few days before! My thoughts on Wendy was she was such a beautiful girl with such a wonderful future ahead of her. I am now a mother of two children and I can only think that she would have been a mother too if not for that monster. When seeing the news today and seeing that Cooey was finally executed all I can say is it is about time. He should have died a long time ago.

Never commited that sin. Your comment is unfortunate given how Cooey initiated this crime. Throwing boulders off a bridge into vehicles below. So just step back so I have room to throw my first stone.
Bleeding-heart-liberals with foolish ideas are part of the reason killers operate without fear of punishment or retribution.

one question why don’t you remove posting numer 1 from gotamac. it is obviously a hoax by a metally disturbed person. Besides there being no record that the Akron Police or any other police or security detail responded to this allegeded 9 shots fired, there is not a chance in the least that shots being fired at or around a mall would not be a top news making event that would close the mall and cause a felony crime scene investigation at the mall.
Broken windows? cars shot up? Sick lies! please take off gotamac’s posting as it discredits this entire discussion board.

This is ludicrous, this is Cooey last meal…..
Officials at the Southern Ohio Correctional Institution served Cooey a “special meal” at 4 p.m. Monday, and he completed it in the early morning hours. It consisted of a T-bone steak with A-1 sauce, French fries, onion rings, hash browns, four eggs over easy, toast and butter, a Mountain Dew, bear claw pastries and a pint of rocky road ice cream.
We feed this animal and we have famalies eating soup and crackers……………….wonder why the country is so messed up!!

I agree with you that the United States legal system is a bit flawed and I am not a supporter of the death penalty; however, if it makes you feel any better to KNOW that this man commited his crime than I can give you that information. I know the family of the 17 year old who commited this crime and he has admitted it to his family. It’s odd because when I heard that this man was being put to death, I felt that it was the right thing to do; yet, I am against the death penalty. I guess it makes it a bit easier to swallow when you can be sure that the person commited the crime.

You are right about this Country being messed up. Nothing will take away the pain that these families still suffer with. Lethal injection is far too easy. They should be tortured just like those beautiful girls were. Makes me ill.

Responses For Poster #103, My Friend MC:
“You people that want Richard Cooey dead make me sick. You call yourselves Christians and say you live by laws which include “Thou Shalt NOT KILL”. IF he did kill the two people (I cannot be sure as your judicial system in America is crap) should we sink to his level and kill him as well? NO! And you say human life is precious, so euthanasia and abortion is out of the question, you hypocritical fuckers.” RESPONSE: I happen to be in favor of Mr. Cooey’s execution, as the evidence is extremely strong. I acknowledge problems in the U.S. justice system, but an objective look at this particular case would lead a reasonable observer to conclude that Mr. Cooey received more than adequate, fair consideration from the courts. (Note that Mr. Cooey is in the ethnic majority, so the common complaint about racist application of the death penalty is not at issue. I acknowledge that if Cooey had better financial wherewithal, he might have escaped justice … luckily, that inherent injustice is also not at issue.) As to your accusation of religious hypocrisy, I strongly support both euthanasia and abortion; I am no hypocrite.
“You dare think that you are superior because you are American and your Christian. Well let me tell you, you are a bunch of brainless wankers. God help anyone that comes up against the American Judicial system, they would be completely stuffed. Sent off to be executed.” RESPONSE: I don’t feel superior for my nationality or spiritual beliefs. But when you call me a “brainless wanker” in the same paragraph that you spell you’re as “your,” well … yes, that makes me feel superior.
“You have been asking in your comments “What would you do/say if it was your child killed?” well what if, “What would you say/do if it was your child that committed the murder?” would you send them off to execution. If any of you said, “Yes, I would!” You are either going to be a hopless parent or you already are.” RESPONSE: No. I am not already a parent, and I am not going to be a “hopless” parent. I will never be a parent. Why do you make ridiculous assumptions while calling others “brainless”?
“If Richard Cooey has been convicted wrongly I hope one day he will have proper justice, not the shite American version.” RESPONSE: Our justice system is questionable, as I’ve acknowledged. It’s still somehow one of the better systems working (and not working) on earth. Better than China’s, probably much worse than some others. Which system do you recommend, wise counselor MC? One that would excuse Richard Cooey?
“One last thing stop insulting him you fuckers.” RESPONSE: That’s good … “stop insuting him you fuckers.” This from a person who calls others hypocrites…
“So to all the people that want Richard Cooey dead, FUCK OFF! DEATH TO THE DEATH PENALTY” RESPONSE: Is Mr. Cooey a hero of yours, MC? Perhaps you can relate to his awful childhood, or maybe you’re just attracted to his style of raping. I saw Cooey’s picture … and now I get why you’re thinking about “wanking”! (And thanks for the charming British slang. You really are sophisticated!) Well, if you’re plain attracted to Mr. Cooey’s rugged sexuality, MC, then this must be a tough day for you. You have my sympathy. Now come out of the closet; it’s OK out in the light! And may a “man” like Richard Cooey meet up with your loved ones tonight!

If only the needle could be put in your arm too. Anyone who has sorrow for this disgusting quasi-human is but a clone. You probably haven’t been caught yet - but there’s time. Hopefully, as another poster here has said - the chance to push the syringe can be held as a lottery - so many would participate. And, if lucky enough, maybe the next time it will be you. You bleeding heart jackass - if the death penalty bothers you - you delicate doily - then be gone asshole - you have no business on this post with men AND WOMEN with balls - you should go find yours - if you ever had any to begin with. This is indeed cause for celebration in NYC tonight - every law enforcement officer can lift their cups to cheer Ohio for finally getting rid of this colossal waste of human debris. Now, Ohio - you are on a roll here - kill the other one too - he is of no consequence - and committed (happily) to participate with this bloated smegma in the murders. He too has now lived long enough - kill him now or let him go and let the family seek their own justice. If the needle is too cruel for this blowhole then by all means any club and stone will do, as by his standards that is not cruel and inhuman. And for you bible nuts out there - you didn’t write this book, and being a cafeteria christian is a smoke screen. I’ll take one death and no death penalty please - you are, of course, lunatics of the same order as this killer. Stop using the Bible as your weapon - it’s God’s weapon - not yours - seek wisdom there in the words - eye for an eye and submitting yourself to earthly justice. Just something you seem to have no desire to hear - wow, what a surprise. Get lost and go join the fat bastard in hell - heaven doesn’t need you to proselytize, particularly with your combined ignorance. HOPE HE IS BURNING IN HELL, the spineless fat bastard.

Ok MC 103. We will ship all of our sicko’s to your country, state, city and streets and see what you do! You’re the sick person. You are far from Superior. You are sub human. And if you can’t find words to use instead of the language that you write, which that alone tells us who you are, then go back to school and learn.
“One last thing stop insulting him you fuckers.” RESPONSE: My 10 year old has better language skills. I hope your mother is proud of you and your sense of duty, we are not amused.
“So to all the people that want Richard Cooey dead, FUCK OFF! DEATH TO THE DEATH PENALTY” RESPONSE Maybe someday you will have a loved one taken in the same manner. Then let’s see who’s for the death penalty. I have nothing but respect for these people that had their loved one ripped from them way too soon. For you MC and the beast Cooey grow up and get rid of the rectal cranial inversion. (In laymen’s terms get your head out of your ass) But like Jesus taught us WE FORGIVE EVEN YOU. Now go home little boy…

Capital punishment is not a deterrant to crime, it is the certanity of it that deterrs crime. This is a quote from Judge Parker also known as the “Hanging Judge”. Many capital crimes are committed because there is no certanity that the person will pay with their life. If Cooey believed that there was a 100% chance that he would pay with his life if caught, I am 100% sure these 2 girls would not have had to suffer and die that night.

Finally that sick son of a bitch is dead. Too fat to be executed my ass! Just think if this had been done 20+ years ago, Wendy and Dawn’s families may have begun to heal by now. But, because our fine justice system allowed us tax payers to support “Dick” for all these years, the victims families had to suffer more than they needed too. My heart goes out to the Mccreerys and Offredos. May you finally have pleasant dreams of this bastard rotting and being tortured in Hell. I am a firm believer you get what you deserve. Hopefully his death was a million times more painful than the girls. May Peace be with the Mccreerys and Offredos. COOEY THE COCKTAIL WAS WAY TO KIND FOR YOU. I HOPE YOUR LAST FEW MINUTES WERE TOTAL AND COMPLETE HELL. YOU DESERVED SO MUCH WORSE.
Comment by Another Diane from School — 10/14/2008 @ 5:56 pm
Thank God he is dead!!!! Our government still works. I hate it took so long to put him down(like a dog}. While he was being put down my 2 oldest daughters were enjoying a safe day at school. Meanwhile my 2yr old daughter was safe asleep in her bed for a nap. There are so many more Cooey’s out there but there is one less that won’t hurt my three daughters.
Oh and SS you are an asshole. Maybe he will meet up with your loved ones tonight. I am so greatful for the death penalty. And for MC who asked what if the death penalty was handed to one our family members. Well, my aunt was the 1st woman executed in the state Alabama(ROLL TIDE). She poisoned her mother, husband and daughter. Her daughter survived the poisoning but with life long health issues from it, she died 5 yrs ago. Thank God they killed that crazy bitch!
Comment by Robbin Dodd — 10/14/2008 @ 6:24 pm
I consider myself a bleeding heart liberal, but this case is too horrible for words to express.
I have something to say to the other bleeding hearts out there who feel that the death penalty doesn’t work.
The death penalty works perfectly: no one who has been executed has ever committed another crime!

Haha… what a lame reason he put forth for trying to evade the DP. Thank God, justice prevailed. What is sick is that it took far too long and that the taxpayers were footing the bill while this swine gorged himself on state provided provisions. They should have starved his fatass to death; that would have been a fitting punishment. We can only hope that, if there is a God in Heaven, that this disgusting fatass pig suffered horrendously indescribable pain on his way to hell, where he will continue to suffer!

to # 108 You must read your bible! Therefore you must have read the verse that says “NO SIN IS GREATER THAN ANOTHER.” Adultery, murder, stealing… it’s all sin and in GOD’S eyes it’s all the same.

i doubt it but i really hope that animal felt as much pain when he got put down as those two girls did. As for his accomplice, I hope he get raped over and over by all the bubbas he must live with.
Anybody who sides with murderesrs like these just does not feel the victims’ pain - so, go sit in the corner.

and in response to “You have been asking in your comments “What would you do/say if it was your child killed?” well what if, “What would you say/do if it was your child that committed the murder?” well all i could say is that if i had commited that crime…my parents would not be able to look me in the eyes ever again. if my kid ever did that the same would go. i will always love my children but they TOOK AWAY 2 people’s LIVES. how do their families feel? i would be embarrased to have the same name as my child if they commited that crime!!!
i am so glad that fucking cooey is dead!!!!!!! he deserved 100 percent of that!!!! i do not feel the least bit of sorrow for this bastard. he made the decission that fucking ended his life. too bad it took 20 years. but finally!!!!!!
i had commented on this before about wendy being my moms best friend. all this week ( and many days in the past) i had been woken up by the sound of my mother crying at the kitchen table. then i would see the newspaper article. if it is this hard on my mother who was only best friends with her…i can not even imanige what the offredo family is going through. from what my mom has told me, she was one amazing person. she said i would’ve loved her. its too bad i never even got tomeet her. my heart goes out to BOTH families♥

all of you who think they know what god said or did about capital punishment, because “the bible said so”, make me nauseous. what makes you think that “god” wrote the bible??????????? well, answer this!!!!!!! you can’t!!!!!!
men wrote the bible. it is full of fantastic stories and impossible events, bent this way and that way, for moral purpose, like allegories, that are meant to teach and (listen here now) NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY.
also, the bible was written by men who had (now listen again, simpletons) GREAT INTEREST IN WRITING THE BIBLE SO THAT IT WOULD BE ACCORDING TO THEIR WANTS, NEEDS, THE LAWS OF THAT ERA, TO SCARE, MAKE RIDICULOUS STORIES SOUND LEGIT) AND OCCASIONALLY TO TEACH SOME GOOD.
so you don’t know what god “thought about” murder, capital murder, an eye for an eye, abortion, republican sensibilities, democrat sensibilities, life, love, marriage, or anything else …….. because (listen again) IT WAS WRITTEN BY A VARIEITY OF MEN WITH AN ENORMOUS AGENDA.
if you are smart enough to be about your own moral compass without the use of the bible, then maybe you need it. but it is replete with inerrancies, straight out b.s. and a bunch of stuff that makes NO SENSE and NEVER HAPPENED. pick a story, oh, let’s see …. noah’s ark is a good one.
do you really think this happened. then, please don’t tell me anything else you believe, like 2 + 2 = 5. you cannot be trusted with the thinking part of your brain.

My prayers are with the victim’s families and that they can move on now. I don’t think Cooey’s time in a max security prison was any picnic. Sex offenders are the lowest on the ladder in prison and are usually treated like dirt by the other prisoners and staff. Cooey was obviously a coward of the lowest type trying to use every ounce of the legal system to extend his pathetic life. I doubt that his life had been worth living in the last 22 years anyway. I think they should change the laws so that when a prisoner is sentenced to life in prison, that it’s really ‘life in prison’ and not up for parole in 20 years. Spending the rest of your life in a cage would be worse than death, in my book. The only other thing that works is execution, for keeping murderers out of society for good. If anyone deserved death, it was definitely Cooey. They should also have executed that other murderer too. I hope he never gets out of prison, otherwise the victim’s families will have to continue to keep him in prison when the parole hearings start. Making the families re-live these memories to keep the criminals in jail is a crime in itself. God bless the victims and their families!

May the passing of this horrific creature bring new life to the Offredo and McGreedy families. As a mother of a young college daughter, my heart bleeds in sorrow of this horrendous crime that took these beautiful girls away from their moms, dads, siblings and friends. No one should ever have to go through what these families have gone through. Our country needs to re-evaluate keeping these slime bags in prison, using our taxpayers money to feed them as they rope the system. How about the taxpayers money be put towards the starving, sick and homeless. By the way, MC, you are as sick as the man we finally sent to hell. You need to re-evaluate your sick thoughts.

They should have hung the fat piece of shit so his head popped off! We need to get medieval on garbage like Cooey, and ostracize anyone who speaks out on their behalf! Or better yet, lace their food with small amounts of radio-isotopes so they rot away from bone cancer while the whiners keep them alive at taxpayers expense.

To 125, yes my comments did at times become crass and I apologise for them and I will give you my explanation. I write letters on behalf of Amnesty International and I sent a letter to the Governor of Ohio to ask for his clemency. I was snobbed, so I was angry and then I went looking for news of Cooey. On seeing this site I was completely disgusted by the comments here. If Richard Cooey was a cold blooded rapist and murderer, the comments I saw here were of equal shock to me. I became so angry that I expleted my way through a comment. Once again I apologise. But I still oppose the death penalty and the death of Richard Cooey.
To the comments made about myself. Firstly from comment 125 from SS, thankyou for pointing out my grammatical error. As I am a school student that will be helpful to my studies. Although to me it appears you’re appeared in my comments as “you are” which is the longer version but is still quite acceptable. On the matter of superiority, I never claimed I was superiror, I am a big believer in equality. And no I would not see him excused (if found guilty). To your comments that I am a hopeless case and Mr. Cooeys prodigy and that I am having a horrible childhood, I can tell you that my parents are wonderful people and I’m not to bad either. Thanks for your concern. I was deeply concerned that you wished the people I loved would be killed one day. I wish no violence upon you and the people you love and I hope you live a long and happy life. But do not bring the people I love into this, this is the exact thing I was talking about. You say that murderers should be executed and then you hope one will knock my family off. That is hypocritical. And stop thinking that I am a nutcase. I am a Greenie, Atheist and I wouldn’t be any other way.
To poor comment 126 Claire. I am no killer, I can’t kill a mosquito and by saying that I should have a lethal injection maybe you’re the one that has evaded police capture. How sweet, I like how people have to feel confident and have to act the ‘big-person’. Are you insecure and shy? Why do you have to be strong? Promoting peoples death is not being strong. Stop fooling yourself. You call me weak, but you believe in the big invisible man in the sky. That’s hilarious. To scared to admit, when you’re gone you’re gone.
To 132, yes I would take all the people on Death Row anywhere in the world into my country. If they were guilty they would go to jail, not be barbarically put to death as they had done to someone else. Sorry for the language and you will find the explanation above. Although that is no excuse and I again apologise. I am no uncivilised person, you cannot tell from a single comment made in anger. Thankyou for your wishes that my family dies, that was considerate and so maybe your comment was written in anger just like mine was and I hope you and your son live a wonderful life and come to no harm as I do not condone violence of any kind, even against those who have committed it. Thankyou for your forgiveness but as ever I am against the death penalty, oh and I am also an Atheist. Your God teaches you that we are all born equal and by telling me I am small and insignificant was a bit un-Christianly, although I wasn’t worried as I know that we are all small and igsignificant.
To Robbin Dodd, thankyou for your defence of my family, but like my comments those comments were probably made in anger and I hope a killer does not meet his family tonight, although I am still very grateful for that even though you are of the opposite opinion to me.
To Nicole (142) you have siad that even that you would be embarrased by your kids if they did that you said that you would still love them, so would you allow them to be executed? I sincerely hope not.

I am so very glad that this monster is dead! Finally! after all of these years!
It is ridiculous that this took so long!
ROT IN HELL Richard Cooey - you worthless piece of sh*t!!
To the angels Wendy and Dawn - you can hopefully rest in peace now.
To the families of Wendy and Dawn - my heart goes out to you!
Also, to MC #103 - something is really seriously wrong with you!
why do you even bother to write anything on here? wow! What an asshole!
Do you really think that many people are going to react to what you typed here in a positive and agreeable way?
What you have written is an outrageous disrespect to the families of the two young women that were raped and murdered!
I do not consider myself superior in anyway to anyone, Thank you very much. God did give me a brain though, I can make good decisions and I function quite well in society, I do know right from wrong…too bad Richard Cooey did not use what God gave him, to stop the raping and murdering of those two young ladies.
I am an American and in my country it is common knowledge that you do not have the right to physically harm people. If you kidnap, rape, maim or murder, don’t be surprised if many of us want to see you in prison or die by lethal injection!
As far as I am concerned, what you have written here is complete poppy cock!!!!
It does make me wonder though if you are perhaps a rapist or murderer, and that is why you are so defensive of Richard Cooey!
Maybe you should have been his lawyer and saved his life!
ooops! too late for that though, right? …….HA HA!
to SS #125 - I love your responses to MC #103 - Thank you so much!

No one who lived in the area was untouched by this heinous crime. While I no longer live in Akron, my brother forwarded me the details of the execution of Richard Cooey and after 22 years it brought back in vivid detail this crime. I drove that stretch of the highway that very night. May the souls of Wendy and Dawn rest in peace and may their families sleep at night.

#152 - to MC.
Very nice of you that you kindly apologized.
but I do kind of feel sorry for you. Your anger in #103 spawned much more anger here and
ended up not really proving or explaining anything, it amounted to nothing really.
It does not make me not support the death penalty.
The Death Penalty is a necessary evil sometimes, especially in the U.S. where I would assume crime is much worse
then it is in your country. I may be in correct here.
It is obvious that you are capable of love. Do you not wonder where that love comes from?
I am not a hardcore Christian, but I am spiritual, I believe that there is a higher power,
whether it be God or an unexplainable being (that invisible man in the sky).
anyway though, I am happy that you apologized
it proves that you do have a heart after all.
PEACE

MC#103 says, “And you say human life is precious, so euthanasia and abortion is out of the question, you hypocritical fuckers.”
I am pro-death-penalty, anti-euthanasia, and anti-abortion. It is fantastically easy and logical to believe as I do, too.
The euthanasia deal is very simple: If you want to leave, kill yourself. You can’t? Life sucks. Don’t want or need a cottage industry established in my country that benefits from that practice, however. Don’t want or need to open the door to such a choice being made as a convenience to others. By all means, though, I hope someday your kid(s) pull the plug on you against your will. It’s for your own good, after all.
Death penalty is very simple: Punishments match the crimes. It’s not about “rehabilitation” or “deterrence” or “wrath” or even “public safety”. Monsters like the prick in question are put to death here in America because the gravity of their crimes deserves it. The Bible doesn’t say, “Thou shalt not kill”. It, in fact, says, “Thou shalt not murder.” Huge difference. The bible is full of killing - sanctioned and otherwise. Murder, however, is something which is never condoned.
Abortion is the easiest of all: You show me an unborn child that has committed a crime such as the one at hand here, and I’ll show you an unborn child deserving of the death penalty. Otherwise, abortion is murder, pure and simple.
So, Mr. Amnesty International, there you have it. You lose. You still do not have a single case of our vastly superior court system - one that gave the scum in question two decades of appeals - a SINGLE CASE of a person put to death by a court of law and later proven to be innocent. Even in this new era of DNA, you still have yet to find a SINGLE case. Hell, you leftist tards can’t even bitch about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg anymore, given that once the USSR fell, it became quite clear via declassified documents that they, too, were guilty as hell and got what they deserved.
SO, MC, go resume your ridiculous campaign to preserve the monsters that live among us. Resume your absurd quest to free the terrorists we have captured. Since you are so proud of your nationality as opposed to mine, I suggest you, yes you laddie, FUCK OFF. Start bitching when and if the justice system within my country manages to surpass the injustice and violence that your country of origin no doubt has within its history…may have to this very day. In other words, I expect to hear back from you no sooner that 3008 or so, if ever.
Comment by Solomon — 10/15/2008 @ 3:58 pm
Post 81: “Societies will be judged by how they treat the worst amongst them. He is still a human. It is utterly incredible that people say he doesn’t deserve mercy because he did not give mercy to his victims — this means that you are willing to give mercy only to those who show mercy. In other words, this would reserve mercy only for those who do not need it.”
Sorry, friend, I disagree. He is not, was not human. Our society will be judged by whether we worship demons, or honor our best people. These two beautiful, trusting girls deserve our honor. Cooey must die. He departed my humanity sometime before these events, twenty-two years past, many, multiple events leading to these two girls death. Our courts sometimes worship demons. Go study this case. Show some intellect. Don’t group me, my friends, families, their families, families, or even yourself in with him without thinking very, very hard. When was the last time you tossed cinder blocks off the overpass at random cars? And the rest. Your comments are very disturbing.

I can’t imagine what these two young girls went through at the hand of cooey. He didn’t show them any sympathy while raping and murdering them. I, too, can’t understand our judicial system. It seems they are for the criminal not the innocent victims and their families. My heart goes out to the families of these young ladies.
Comment by JeanH — 10/16/2008 @ 12:32 am
You want more Solomon, well you get what you ask for!
You accuse me of being a murderer lover and you say you hope someone pulls the plug on me. Try thinking before you speak. I made your mistake in my first comment so maybe your next will be a bit more thoughtful. Yet again maybe not, especially if you do not have anything to think with.
You wouldn’t believe how much I laughed when I read your comment that said you thought your pro-death penalty, anti-abortion and anti-euthanasia beliefs were logical. You wouldn’t know the meaning of the word. How can you be against the deaths of unborn fetuses and someone dying of their own free will but be for the death penalty. So let me get this straight, person A kills someone and gets the death penalty and so what do you do? Sink to their level and do the exact same thing by killing them. Pretty logical! And on the Bible saying “Thou shalt not murder”, who cares on the next page it probably contridicts itself by saying something else. I’m not going to bother saying anymore about those three issues as I might as well argue with a brick wall, so I suggest if you want more of actual logic, you should open your mind. You might learn something!
Oh, I’ve lost have I! Damn beaten by another intellectual giant. Curses!
What do you mean there isn’t a single case where an innocent person was put to death. What a load of bull. Tell me about EVERY case of the death penalty that there has ever been in America and give me hard evidence that the person did it! It’s not me that has to prove my case, it’s the governments that should be answering to some charges.
When did I say I was on the side of the USSR. I’m on neither side. So I can still winge about certain racist parties, I suppose you want Apartheid!
Terrorists you have captured! What, children! You absolutely disgust me. The CIA have been disappearing thousands of people from around the world for no other reason then looking slightly Muslim (I suppose you hate Muslims as well Mr. Bigot!). America has killed more innocents than the terrorists. And I think most people now know America as part of the terrorist side as well.
My proud nationality? I am not proud of any country. The country I reside in is Australia, who is Americas ally and I am not proud of it, it’s almost as bad as your nation.
Yes, my country has a bad history on the part of the white settlers killing and stealing land from the Aboriginal people and if any of my ancestors were involved in that I am not proud of them. But you can say nothing with America’s history.
Did you think that I would be so scared by your pathetic comments, that I wouldn’t come back until 3008. Well let me tell you something, I’m not scared by people like you, Right-wing (probably Christian) radicals. So see you later Solomon, hope to hear from you soon, it’s been fun lauging at your comments.
Thankyou to Billie Bryant for accepting my apology for the crass language. Although I would like to put a few of my opinions to your posts, so maybe you can hear my views when I am not anry. If you are interested.
Thanks for the concern, but the only thing wrong with me is I am a bit shy and not very confident, but I’ll live. I commented on this site as I had written a letter on behalf of Amnesty International, to the Governor of Ohio, to ask for clemency for Richard Cooey. I was looking for current news on the situatuation and found this site. To my disgust there was a lot of comments that were quite disgusting and vulgar (a bit like my first comment). So I got angry and away I went.
Okay, so now your thinking I don’t have any sympathy for the victims. Well I do. It was a horrible crime and I Richard Cooey was one of the perpatrators he deserved justice. But the death penalty is not justice. By giving the death penlaty to people we sink to the level of a killer and of course in many cases (although I not sure about this one) the alleged is sometimes an innocent person.
When you said your law said that you can not physically harm people, then why are people killed by the death penalty? Seems a bit hypocritical, even if they themselves have committed violence.
By writting in these peoples defence, it does not mean that I am also a murder and I also believe that everyone here should lay off the picking on the lawyers. They were doing there jobs and no matter what he did the law states that EVERYONE has the right to legal representation.
Do not feel sorry for me, there is nothing wrong with me. Yes I am capable of love, but if that is a reference about me being an Atheist, you do not need religion to be a loving person to have values and beliefs. It’s commonsense and human nature.
To Lance (151), yes I am scared to use my real name. In your country, people get killed for having a different opinion. If it was my daughter, then no doubt I would initially be so angry that I would want the perpatrator dead. But if it does happen, I hope my sense comes back and if the person was put on death row, I myself (if my sense was regained from the anger) would campaign for the persons life to be saved. It’s not all about revenge. I would be more pleased to see the person rotting in jail for a long time and thinking about what they had done and if they were that bad that they weren’t remorseful, they would probably have some sort of mental problem and that means that they might not have been able to help themselves. Who knows?
You want murderers put to death and then you say you want me dead and in my life I have never committed a crime. That makes you sound like the murderous person and of course, completely hypocritical.
To Heather (150), Seeing you guessed my identity I’ll be coming for you next!
MWA…HA HA HA HA
Actually my first name begins with and M and my second a C, so Charles Manson is WRONG. Who will come up with the next guess at my serial killer identity, maybe Solomon.
Until Next Time

I have no sympathy for Richard Cooey and others like him. I am glad this sorry excuse for a human being, the worst that society has to offer has been removed. My biggest regret is that I was not there to see it. This POS argued for years that his own demise would be “inhumane”, yet his victims suffered and died in the most horrific way possible. His lawyer also had the audacity to say that Cooey is not the same person now that committed these murders in ‘86. Fact is, Cooey was a savage until the day he died and if let back in society, would have brutalized and killed again and again. I also find it sickening that this monster wore the uniform of this nation and committed these acts while serving.
Mr. Cooey, YOU made the conscious decsion to murder these young, beautiful women who had everything going for them. You stole daughters, grandaughters, friends and decent people who by now would have been wives, mothers and contributing members of their communities.
Despite my anger, I hope these young women are never forgotten.

I have never been one for the death penalty but after reading about this guy I am having second thoughts. I always worry that they may execute the wrong person ,but when they know for sure then I agree. I have always been puzzled though why these people get to live for so long after they have been sentenced to death. Why do taxpayers have to pay to keep scum like this alive? I`m not sure lethal injection is the way he should have died. I think that these kinds pf people should die the way their victims did. What about men that rape babies? They need to figure out how to inflick as much pain as these people do to their victims.
My heart goes out to the families and may God be with you .

You guys say “kill this shit” then “my prayers go to the family”.
Ah so funny, do you think Jesus would do agree killing people like this?I remind you the position of
the vatican, strongly against it, so stop talking about prayers, god and shit please when you want s.o

Nobody deserves to die, no guilty, no innocent, no victim, no assassin. It so pathetic. You are the last
occidental country to have have death penalty, do you think maybe we all others are wrong? I really like
USA but on points it makes me sick… Ahh if Rousseau or Beccaria would see that…

I only wish they could kill him again. His penalty was too light. The Nazis were kinder to their victims than Cooey was. That fat piece of trash is right where he belongs.

To concerned citizen,
You must have ten dicks, because you couldn’t be that stupid wanking with one.

Littlebity,
I share your feelings as well about the wrong person being executed. However in this instance where Cooey’s guilt was clearly and unmistakably established and the brutality of this heinous act, the ultimate punishment was warranted.
For those of you who oppose capital punishment and claim the rights of the condemed are being violated, well, your argument is empty. What about the rights of these young women who did not ask to be victimized by this evil SOB? What about the countless victims who die at the hands of monsters like Cooey each year? I am not a vindictive, vengeful person. However, when one willfully takes the life of another, he or she should surrender their right to live without question.
Additionally, If I were a tax paying citizen of Ohio, I would be outraged that my tax dollars went to not only feed this useless slug for 20+ years, but to also provide him with a “last supper” before his final demise. We have decent people out here who can barely feed their families, yet this schmuck eats enough in one sitting that could probably feed two or three people. These final meals should not be allowed, period.
I am glad that the state of Ohio finally executed this garbage. On the same token, I am mad that they fed, clothed and housed him at taxpayers expense, longer than either of the two victims lived. Hopefully his image will fade away with time and as mentioned, we continue to preserve the memory of the victims.

TO MC
Interesting - it seems that you have finally found your balls - NOT - while you hide behind your poor language and writing skills. I don’t care what country you’re from and whether that country believes in the death penalty or not. Whether you’re an atheist or not is irrelevant. In fact, you are quite irrelevant. You are not one of the “sufferage” of humanity, and who can really be certain if you’re human at all. Quite probably you are a young teenager who kills animals and is well on “it’s” way to becoming another cooey (lower case purposefully). Since I am convinced you are just another cooey in the making, I stand by my original statement: there is still time ….. In any event, just drop dead because sooner or later (hopefully sooner) we will hear about another “should-have-been-an-abortion” being executed with the moniker “MC” - hope does spring eternal. So - goodbye jackass and may you and your bleeding heart rot in hell with your new found dead friend cooey.
Comment by claire — 10/17/2008 @ 10:18 am
To Claire,
Another wonderful comment from a very intellectual person. Referring to your comment about myself hiding, “behind your poor language and writing skills”. You shouldn’t make comments that you cannot prove. I happen have the top marks in my English class. Another illogical argument from the master of debate.
“I don’t care what country you’re from and whether that country believes in the death penalty or not.” Well maybe you should start caring. America is the only western country left that uses the death penalty. And of course the UN has said that countries should begin to remove the death penalty. But you wouldn’t care, who cares what the UN has to say?
“Quite probably you are a young teenager who kills animals…” Now you’re a psychologist. Will your impressive skills cease to amaze me? No, you are wrong again, I have never killed an animal in cold blood before. In fact I’m against the cold blooded killing of animals.
“Since I am convinced you are just another cooey in the making…” So anyone that fights against the death penalty are obviously upcoming serial murderers. More illogical arguments.
“In any event, just drop dead because sooner or later (hopefully sooner) we will hear about another “should-have-been-an-abortion” being executed with the moniker “MC”…” Firstly as I have mentioned before I could not kill any creature (including humans) in cold blood. Secondly if I was to go on an axe-murdering rage, I wouldn’t be stupid enough to have the moniker of MC, as they are my initials,
“So - goodbye jackass…” Leaving are you? Can’t stand someone challenging your views.
“…and may you and your bleeding heart rot in hell with your new found dead friend cooey.” Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no such thing as Hell. Secondly Cooey (upper case purposefully, it’s good grammar) was no friend of mine. I fought for his (and other’s) lives because I do not agree with the death penalty, not because I am his prodigy. And lastly if there was a Hell, I would rather be there with Cooey than with you. Although, would you qualify for Heaven?
Until Next Time

I just wanted to mention how saddened many of the comments on here have made me. The crimes committed here were horrific, as is the death penalty (right or wrong, you must admit that it is horrible. that the fact such a punishment exists or has to exist is horrible). Equally horrifying, to me, is the violence and vehemence with which many (not all) commenters have attacked one another. Leaving the families of the victims, the victims themselves and even the killer out of it, take a look at the words and conduct here. Wishing death on a complete stranger? Vulgarities and mindless insults thrown left and right? You feel strongly about this issue? GOOD. You have to, it’s too important to brush off, but let’s not lose our humanity in the process. and before you start attacking me, utter strangers, note that i have not stated my opinion on the matter. nor have i condemned one side or the other, the pro-penalty and anti-penalty posts on here have been eerily similar in their violent natures. you want to make the world a better place, all of you, that’s clear (some by removing murderers, some by maintaining all life, despite what is done with those lives), why not start by showing some compassion, openmindedness and simple courtesy to those we come in contact with?
it’s good to disagree, but do it with your minds and hearts open…if you don’t intend on listening, why begin a dialogue? besides, look back at these posts, doesn’t it seem that the f-word is the least persuasive one on here?
Comment by ohio student — 10/19/2008 @ 11:51 pm
>>You want more Solomon, well you get what you ask for!
You think highly of yourself, it seems. Isn’t that always the case with you leftist tards? I haven’t read beyond the first sentence, yet I’m confident I’ll find at least a half-dozen cases of you claiming to be intellectually superior to me. Hey, at least I’m guaranteed a decent laugh.
>>You accuse me of being a murderer lover and you say you hope someone pulls the plug on me. Try thinking before you speak. I made your mistake in my first comment so maybe your next will be a bit more thoughtful. Yet again maybe not, especially if you do not have anything to think with.
You’re the one who doesn’t object to euthanasia, not me. I’d revel in the irony of your kids pulling the plug on you and then facing a murder trial for their efforts. But that’s just in your case, of course.
“Sink to their level”. ROFL. Obviously, even the more deranged among you scum doesn’t subscribe to that, or else they’d be trying to have the people behind the execution tried for murder, no? It seems, even among the hysterical left, you are on an island. And you are. Just a little “man” with a little voice bitching because we don’t give a shit what you say.
As further testament (pun intended) to your rabid straw grasping: You, yes *YOU* laddy, invoked the Bible. You LAZILY did so when you figured it furthered your so-called “point”. Scroll up, folks, the Bible seemed to be worthy of consideration earlier, according to MC and his extra chromosome. But I corrected you. A single word. And, now what? You say, “Who cares on the next page it probably contridicts [*SIC*] itself by saying something else.” Not that I even began to suspect you believed in God, or anything else but the Church of Leftism, for that matter… It’s good to see you come clean and look typically ridiculous doing so, though. “Probably” you say. Your speculation about the contents of the Bible, apparently sight unseens, are doubtlessly less accurate than my speculation about you. To wit: I wager you reek of patchouli and feet.
I’ll reiterate because you’re obviously reading-impaired: I favor a punishment that matches the crime. Nowhere in your histrionics have you even begun to unravel my logic. Again, find me a fetus guilty of a capital crime, and I’ll be the first in line to advocate the death penalty for it. But you can’t. Lives are worthless to you - except, inexplicably, those of outrageous monsters. I only wish that you valued your own as much as that of of given fetus.
>>Oh, I’ve lost have I! Damn beaten by another intellectual giant. Curses!
All things being absolute and relative, respectively… (Get out your decoder ring for that one, nimrod.)
ROFL. Typical scrambling by those without facts on their side. I point-blank tell you there has not been a person put to death in [modern] America who was later proven to be innocent. Now, based upon your response, your only resource for information in the world, Google, quite obviously failed you - you couldn’t find a single one.
But, no, disingenuously, you suggest it is my responsibility to evaluate every death penalty case ever held. You are not only stupid and craven, you are lazy, to boot. Go find that golden fleece of a case proving me wrong, if you can (you can’t). You’re the one doubting the system, not me. I believe in it. Each death penalty case has been and continues to be evaluated and re-evaluated. My “work” is done for me. Yours - your effort to find that ONE case? Good luck finding it - here’s a hint: “Louis Friend”.
>>When did I say I was on the side of the USSR. I’m on neither side. So I can still winge about certain racist parties, I suppose you want Apartheid!
Just to add to the idiocy, you simultaneously toss me a straw man while imagining I threw one your way. I suppose this is the base reflex for the uneducated - you didn’t begin to understand my Rosenberg reference, so you lose your mind. Interesting. Yeah, I suppose I want Apartheid. I said that at least 38 times in my previous post. Oh, by the way, that’s sarcasm. I’m pointing that out because I know you are too moronic to spot it on your own.
Outstanding! I’m not even going to attempt to pry that tinfoil hat off your head because, quite frankly, I enjoy knowing you are out there, in pain. Pained by your condition. I have no inclination to “cure” you because as long as wing-nuts like you are doing the talking for the various leftist causes I oppose - i.e. anti-death penalty - my job becomes much, much easier. I become more confident in my current and continuing state of victory. In this case, I can rest assured that monsters like Cooey will be snuffed out by the state for years and years to come.
I will educate you a bit though: There’s a clever device called a “trap” - it can be used within a game of Texas Hold’em or within a discussion to equal effect. I threw the T-word out there because I just *KNEW* your response would be irrational and detract for whatever else you were trying to say. You see, if you were smart, you’d have either ignored the reference or pointed out that it wasn’t the topic you were interested in discussing. Big caveat there, though, the “if you were smart” qualification. Funny how I’ve got you figured out, eh? (Actually kind of sad, for you.)
>>My proud nationality? I am not proud of any country. The country I reside in is Australia, who is Americas ally and I am not proud of it, it’s almost as bad as your nation.
Seems to me you have enough hatred for your *OWN* country to entertain. One would think that since you can’t accomplish anything there, you’d not even attempt to fuck with my country or its policies. You Euros (quasi- and otherwise) crack me up - tilting at windmills and deluded into thinking we give a shit what you think. I really do find it entertaining.
>>Yes, my country has a bad history on the part of the white settlers killing and stealing land from the Aboriginal people and if any of my ancestors were involved in that I am not proud of them. But you can say nothing with America’s history.
ROFL - “Stay tuned for next week on ‘Letters from a Penal Colony’…”
Maybe *YOU* can say nothing of America’s history - but that is only because you know nothing of it. Please, say something stupid like “smallpox blankets”. (Trap alert!)
Seems that your reading comprehension is lacking, too. Since I’m done “helping you out”, I’ll simply invite you to actually read - and understand - what was written and respond, accordingly. Unless you’re “scared”, of course - which wouldn’t surprise me. Ignorance has that effect on people like you.

You know what Solomon, I was thinking the exact same things as you when I read the above. Apart from the bit about Leftists, because your obviously on the Right. (As in Right Wing, not right as in correct. I just had to put this in or you would have jumped on it and claimed that it was one of you traps for stupid leftists.)
“You’re the one who doesn’t object to euthanasia, not me. I’d revel in the irony of your kids pulling the plug on you and then facing a murder trial for their efforts. But that’s just in your case, of course.”
How kind of you. May you live a long and peaceful life (and that is not sarcasm).
““Sink to their level”. ROFL. Obviously, even the more deranged among you scum doesn’t subscribe to that, or else they’d be trying to have the people behind the execution tried for murder, no?”
Do mean deranged scum as murderers (who I am not one of). Or “Leftist tards”. And no I wouldn’t have the executioners trialed as a lot of them are just doing a job and they end up depressed etc.
“And you are. Just a little “man” with a little voice bitching because we don’t give a shit what you say.”
Thanks, it’s always good to know I’m valued. Thanks for not giving a shit, it just proves you are narrow minded. I look at both sides of an issue and then make a decision. Please try it.
“As further testament (pun intended) to your rabid straw grasping: You, yes *YOU* laddy, invoked the Bible. You LAZILY did so when you figured it furthered your so-called “point”. I said that YOUR book told you that you shouldn’t kill. I never said what was written was correct and I never said that it was completely wrong/contridictary. It can say something right, but on the next page it can say a completly different thing.
No, I don’t believe im God.
I said probably, as you would have asked me to find specific quotes and stories for you on opposing pages instead of at bigger or smaller intervals.
“ROFL. Typical scrambling by those without facts on their side. I point-blank tell you there has not been a person put to death in [modern] America who was later proven to be innocent. Now, based upon your response, your only resource for information in the world, Google, quite obviously failed you - you couldn’t find a single one.”
I’m not an expert on the issue and I have yet to look for specific cases. One day when I have the time I will find a few cases for you (amongst the many) and enlighten you. But anyway guilty or not there should be no death penalty. And I’m not much of a Google user, I prefer to use proven materials, not anything brought up that was written by non-experts. So if you have all the facts on your side (as I am obviously scrambling for them) maybe you could present them?
“But, no, disingenuously, you suggest it is my responsibility to evaluate every death penalty case ever held.”
That was in reference to you saying every case was correct, which would be ridicoulous as me saying all the people put to death were innocent as I haven’t read all the cases myself. Read the sentence, before you make silly comments that I have to explain or couldn’t you understand them?
“Just to add to the idiocy, you simultaneously toss me a straw man while imagining I threw one your way. I’m pointing that out because I know you are too moronic to spot it on your own.”
Yet again I have to explain a comment that was obvious. The use of Apartheid in my comment was made in sarcasm, as your on about myself being a Soviet and the Rosenberg comments. Really that’s sarcasm! WOW-EE! I would have never guessed, it was that subtle!
“Outstanding! I’m not even going to attempt to pry that tinfoil hat off your head because, quite frankly, I enjoy knowing you are out there, in pain.”
For the last time, read the comment properly! I was not saying that terrorists did not exist. There is Al-Qaeda and other groups who have committed crimes against people all over the world, such as 9/11, Bali, and other bombings in many countries and there is the other terrorists: America and allies (ie cronies). And anyway the comment was in reference to the many people you have captured having usually nothing to do with the above groups.
“my job becomes much, much easier. I become more confident in my current and continuing state of victory. In this case, I can rest assured that monsters like Cooey will be snuffed out by the state for years and years to come.”
More confident? In what exactly? Complete destruction of anyone with a differing opinion to you? Victory? You’re actually losing. The death penalty is beginning to drop and more and more Right Wing theories are being proved wrong or are cocking up, like your current economic crisis.
“I will educate you a bit though: There’s a clever device called a “trap” - it can be used within a game of Texas Hold’em or within a discussion to equal effect. I threw the T-word out there because I just *KNEW* your response would be irrational and detract for whatever else you were trying to say. Really! Well I just like aggrivating you people with my opposing views and I did not fall into a trap by giving you deranged answers, you left yourself open on a topic which is much in my favour (ie people are getting over the whole terrorist thing and they are sick of the actions taken by both sides). Got me figured out? Tell me everything about me then, Mr. Psychologist. (Hint Section: I’m not a serial murderers prodigy and I’m not a sad teenager who kills animals for fun, those clever suggestions have already been tried by people who have me, “All worked out”.)
“One would think that since you can’t accomplish anything there, you’d not even attempt to fuck with my country or its policies.”
I do not see issues in terms of whose country it is in. We are all members of the world and all issues about somebody’s country and its policies are relevant to all of us.
“…deluded into thinking we give a shit what you think. I really do find it entertaining.”
That’s your and and your country’s problem, you don’t give a stuff what others think, well let me tell you there are 6 Billion people on this planet and all of their views should be heard.
“Maybe *YOU* can say nothing of America’s history - but that is only because you know nothing of it. Please, say something stupid like “smallpox blankets”. (Trap alert!)”
Oh, damn, I didn’t notice another chance to see that you left yourself wide open for comments. Although if I do, I will be called a conspiracy theorist, and gullible. Now thats a cheap argument!
“Ignorance has that effect on people like you.”
Now I have to say that I laughed for hours when I read that one. Ignorant moi? Jeeze, if I’m ignorant I have grave fears for you. Well that concludes my statements. No doubt you’ll misread them or twist them to your so called advantage in your next academic and humane comment.

I am not going to Fisk you again because your lack of content does not warrant detailed attention such as that.
However, I will address this little nugget to demonstrate to you what a polluted wasteland your leftist mind is:
You say: “The death penalty is beginning to drop and more and more Right Wing theories are being proved wrong or are cocking up, like your current economic crisis.”
And, how, exactly is the “economic crisis” caused by the “Right Wing”? Oh, your idiotic websites told you so, so it must be true.
Meanwhile you conveniently ignore the myriad facts that show the problem was directly linked to the LEFT and their socialist initiatives.
For starters, LEFTIST Jimmy Carter suggested that lenders take on more “high risk” loans - READ: Loans from people with little means to pay/minorities.
That, unto itself, was relatively harmless, as it had no teeth.
However, that very same program was expanded under the CLINTON administration to DICTATE that a certain percentage of the lending go to these people. Further, it dictated that stuff like “employment status” and “debt to income ratio” and “credit history” not be used as excluding factors when lending to, um, “disadvantaged people” (again, READ: minorities).
Several times the GOP attempted to REGULATE this out of control loaning. Free market banks bought these securities because the FED, under the DEMOCRAT program, implied that they were all government backed by FNMA/FHLMC. Uh, they weren’t. There are tons of DOCUMENTED cases of Democrats blocking initiatives to curb the reckless behavior…they were more interested in some poor black guy getting a loan than their ability to actually pay it back.
The problem wasn’t “Right Wing Deregulation”. It was “Left Wing *BAD* Regulation”.
All the information RE: what I just said is readily available IN NEUTRAL TERRITORY to you if you can manage to peel yourself away from the Libtard websites.
Now, I do this to demonstrate a simple fact:
You are inclined to take LIMITED knowledge and make ABSOLUTE judgments.
Your concern for this monster is fueled by NOTHING but your ignorant/kneejerk objection to my country, its systems, and the death penalty. This is the same thing that results in your opinion of the current financial situation and the cause(s) thereof.
This makes you inferior and worthy of being ignored. I just happen to be having fun, ATM.
If you want to argue the financial mess, do it with this guy, who has thoroughly researched the situation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZVw3no2A4
As for the death penalty, Kitty and I hope you rot in hell with Mr. Dukakis.

“I am not going to Fisk you again because your lack of content does not warrant detailed attention such as that.”
If I have a lack of content, yours is in the negatives. Although it is a great pity to see you are ending our ‘relationship’, I was really getting into reading your gibberish about completely shooting down my arguments, when it was clear you were nowhere near or off in the wrong direction.
“However, I will address this little nugget to demonstrate to you what a polluted wasteland your leftist mind is:”
Get over yourself. My mind is certainly not polluted. And if I was to say yours was the polluted mind and give examples, I would be told that my views were “Leftist tard nonsense”. And I certainly wouldn’t get any evidence to prove my mind is polluted. Oh, I actually can’t say your mind is polluted, because you don’t have a mind. Someone that spouts the crap you do obviously doesn’t think for themselves.
“Oh, your idiotic websites told you so, so it must be true.”
My information comes from a wide variety of sources, including all different perspectives. I do this so I can form a opinion on something. The opinions I have, have been made by deciding on all sides of an argument. So give up on telling me who I am, when you have absolutely no idea.
“And, how, exactly is the “economic crisis” caused by the “Right Wing””
When I talk about Right-Wing, I mean the political ideaology, not a certain party, such as the Republicans. This party is not the only Right-Wingers out there. And to answer your question, the Right is a major cause as it suggests that the market is left to regulate itself and that a government does no regulation of the markets. Obviously this has failed, as the market became greedy, took on to much and now it has lost it all.
“Meanwhile you conveniently ignore the myriad facts that show the problem was directly linked to the LEFT and their socialist initiatives.”
I suppose this was on, “your Rightist-Tard website”. Facts, hey. I like your facts. Written so a certain people gain a certain something out of it or to get the heat of their backs.
“For starters, LEFTIST Jimmy Carter suggested that lenders take on more “high risk” loans”
Wrong again. I’m not on the Democrats side and yes they might well have been a part of the problem. I am not on their side as they are not as far left as I am. They are actually close to the centre and many of them are on the verge of being on the Right.
“Loans from people with little means to pay/minorities.”
So also, the normal person is to blame. Many people have now become greedy and they just want and want. So they take out loans beyond them and buy absolutely everything they want on their credit card. In my country, for example, the average person has a $20,000 debt on their credit card.
“IN NEUTRAL TERRITORY”
That would have been a shock for you.
“You are inclined to take LIMITED knowledge and make ABSOLUTE judgments.”
I like it how wankers have to capitalise all the words that are stressed in their sentences. Next you will be putting them in bold and underlining them. As for your pea-brain assement of me, you should take a look at yourself. You would never look at both sides of an argument. It’s instantly your side and the “tard” side.
“Your concern for this monster is fueled by NOTHING but your ignorant/kneejerk objection to my country, its systems, and the death penalty. This is the same thing that results in your opinion of the current financial situation and the cause(s) thereof.”
No, my concern is from a disgust at certain laws etc. I don’t hate America, just some of its people.
“This makes you inferior and worthy of being ignored. I just happen to be having fun, ATM.”
That’s what I’m talking about! Inferior. I hate that word. The only people that are inferior to others in this world are people that believe they are superior to others. You are ignoring because you can’t respond to reason. Your warped ‘facts’ fall apart and you continually repeat them. Get some new arguments. I must say I have also been having fun. Laughing at your stupidity of course.
“As for the death penalty, Kitty and I hope you rot in hell with Mr. Dukakis.”
Well if you’re in Heaven I would much rather be in Hell. Here’s a phrase to chomp on smart arse, “Cogito Ergo Non Ovis”. I’ll leave you to translate it. And not using a computer translater. Try a different language for yourself, you might learn something. Fat chance of that.
Farewell narrow minded Solomon.
